Joanne Green Landscape & InteriorThis pocket-sized garden in Sydney's North Shore was designed to exploit it's expansive harbourside view whilst incorporating a swimming pool, intimate entertaining terrace and lawn.
A combination of sandstone paving and native hardwood used across screens, gates and balustrades, were softened with lush foliage to complete this luxurious and contemporary garden space.
In 2019 this North Sydney project by Joanne Green Landscape & Interior was awarded GOLD in Residential Construction $300,000 - $600,000 from The Landscape Association.

Idriz & HardingThis brilliant small courtyard garden is just 6m long by 4m wide and is backed by a railway. The Brief for this design was for a Modern style with dramatic, dark colours and a better arranged entertainment area with BBQ & Bin storage.
As the garden is small, it was important for us to create the perfect layout and make use of the sunlight and surrounding features as much as we could. By painting the beautiful 'cobblestone wall' a dark colour and planting tall plants in front, we gave the garden a feeling of lengthening. The BBQ & Bin store not only acts as storage but a surface to cook on and a small herb garden.
Conbu Interior DesignOutdoor space designed by Conbu Interior Design. Dark grey walls allow the planting to pop. Siberian larch panel soften the look. Raised flower beds have been incorporated to ensure plants are easily accessible. Planters have also been included but its the plants which really shine. An awning provides some shade during warmer summer days. An outdoor heater has also been included for cooler nights. Bright red garden furniture provide a pop of colour. Low maintenance granite and artificial grass ensure there is no need for a lawn mower.
Catnik Design StudioThese new garden areas were part of an extensive shift and change for this 1800’s villa. The architect linked two old semi’s together creating a new family home in this heritage area of Norwood.
We designed 4 garden zones on a very small footprint.
The first was the front garden which was designed with a soft feel in mind. We chose plants that would complement the style and architecture of the home giving it a softer feel upon entry. We chose large format pavers with a breakout area for departing family and friends. A large shade tree and colours that complemented the bluestone facade and lilac coloured front door.
The second garden was a private courtyard adjacent the front garden behind a high picket fence. This is where clients can be brought into the private studio. Natural light in abundance we sought to create a lush green courtyard by using ‘green screens’, soft colours and textural ground covers.
The third garden was on the northern side of the home within the entertaining area. We installed a very large Cercis canadensis ‘Merlot’ (Forest Pansy) for shade, green screens and textural planting for visual interest.
And finally the back garden was designed for garage access, utility area access and for the clients two large dogs. We combined a selection of plants that were hardy enough to cope with playful pups, and would contribute to the clients love of fresh produce. Espaliered olive, pomegranate and pear were installed as was the clients lemon tree with herbs dotted throughout the garden.
Thomas LandscapesTrellis posts featured on Olympic sized bocce ball court using stained redwood. Oyster Shell mix compacted over a French drain system to keep the court nice in the rain seasons.

BE Landscape DesignThis growing family needed to maximize their outdoor space. BE Landscape Design, elevated the Master BR deck, and fire-pit, designed a multi level BBQ for easy access to both lounge and dining areas. The retaining wall was removed and replaced with a nook for a built in dining bench. The large retaining wall was painted graphite grey, and faced with sturdy 'stallion wire' to support scented and flowering vines. The hillside was planted with native and shade tolerant plants.
The Sculpted EarthCurved walkway of Dominion Slate pavers leads to Trex composite deck overlooking circular grass shape surrounded by a mix of perennials, grasses, shrubs, Maple trees and a privacy screen of Arborvitae trees to give privacy from neighboring yard. A small circular patio offers space for custom swing to sit and enjoy the space.
CCASA ArchitectsA landscape designer, Jenny Bloom Landscape, designed the big rear garden in different spaces and very well integrated with the architecture.

The London Gardener LtdWe remodelled a garden we installed some 5 years earlier as the children had grown older and our client wanted an outdoor room to use as a gym, snug and have a separate area within the pod for garden storage. Podspace were commissioned to design a bespoke pod to fully utilise the width of the garden. We then worked our new planting around to give a generous lounge area in which to enjoy the sun, while still keeping the dining area close to the house. A wide path was used to connect the spaces and many of our original and now mature plants were kept. We added new planting borders which were planted with more structural and varied evergreens to create 'cloud' hedges.
Earth Designs Garden and Build London and EssexA deck constructed from Yellow Balau hardwood boards meets you from the conservatory and sits flush with the existing back door.
A stainless steel tension wire creates a railing around the decking area, while allowing an unobstructed view through to the garden.
The deck steps down to a raised pathway made from paving slab stepping stones in a gravel infill, with a railway sleeper edge.
