dreamdoctorThe Teahouse was more of the life she wanted to live rather than the reality of her life. She did not spend as much time using it as she might have liked but her desk faced the Teahouse and she enjoyed it very much as a place to dream about being able to use more often. It served as a mental break which was its intended purpose.
The lighting in the square columns are inverted, stained glass pyramids with lights shining into them. This way we were able to affect custom lighting without invoking the wrath of the code god. Anything is possible with good design. There is small fountain next to the entry door.

Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignLagoon-side property in the Bel Marin Keys, Novato, CA. Entertaining and enjoying the views were a primary design goal for this project. The project includes a large camaru deck with built-in seating. The concrete steps and pavers lead down to the water's edge. I included a sunken patio on one side and a beautiful Buddha statue on the other, surrounded by succulents and other low-water, contemporary plantings. I also used Dymondia ground cover to create a natural pathways within the garden.
This project was just completed. More photos will be included in Spring when the plantings fill in.

Perth LandscapingPerth Landscaping Group recently completed a full design & install for the 169 Hay Street building in Perth’s city centre, handling the Landscape Design, Project Management, Construction, and full Irrigation system.
The client was looking for a feature garden to be created for the entrance of their building. Right in the city centre, and facing the main road, the space was an empty, sandy eye-sore – and they wanted to make a statement.
Now, our client’s building has a gorgeous, lush oasis by the entrance to welcome their visitors and employees, instead of a barren, empty space.
Nordland Landscapeshis terraced garden had seen better days and was riddled with issues. The client wanted to breathe fresh life into this outdoor space so that they could enjoy it in all weathers.
The first issue to address was that the garden sloped quite dramatically away from the house which meant that it felt awkward and unuseable.
Also, the decking was rotten which made it slippery and unsafe to walk on.
The small lawn was suffering from poor drainage and the steep slope made it very difficult to maintain. We replaced the old decking with one constructed out of composite plastic so that it would last the test of time and not suffer from the effects of our damp climate. The decking area was also enlarged so that the client could use it to sit out and enjoy the view. It also meant they could have a large table and chair set for entertaining.
The garden was split into two levels with the use of a stone-filled gabion cage retaining wall system which allowed us to level both upper and lower sections using a process of cut and fill. This gave us two large flat areas which were used as a formal lawn and orchard and wildflower area. When back-filling the upper area, we improved the drainage with a simple land drainage system. Now this terraced garden is beautiful and just waiting to be enjoyed.
