Heidi ThornBy addressing the entire vertical surface of this double height space with dark textured tile and grasscloth, the designer changed the proportion of this space and brought warmth and drama to the room. Color blocking the niches adjacent to the fireplace make this the true focal point of the Living Area. Expert installation by David Sass.
ODS ArchitectureView of the living room from the front entry opens up to a dramatic view of the San Francisco Bay. The original eight foot ceilings were opened up with vaulting and steel beam reinforcing. Track lighting was utilized partly because of the sloped vaulted ceiling made recessed lighting difficult, and there was insufficient void space in the ceiling for recessed lighting equipment.
Normandy RemodelingThis two story family room takes advantage of the high ceilings and large windows to create a space that is the clear destination for the family. The open floorpan connects this space to the dining area and kitchen, and the two story fireplace detail adds drama and draws the eye upward.

Drewett WorksA substantial fireplace wall of Cambrian black leathered granite and travertine in the living room echoes the stone massing elements of the home's exterior architecture.

Signature Custom HomesStepping into this bright modern home in Seattle we hope you get a bit of that mid century feel. The kitchen and baths have a flat panel cabinet design to achieve a clean look. Throughout the home we have oak flooring and casing for the windows. Some focal points we are excited for you to see; organic wrought iron custom floating staircase, floating bathroom cabinets, herb garden and grow wall, outdoor pool/hot tub and an elevator for this 3 story home.

Angela Todd Studios | Portland, ORWhen Portland-based writer Donald Miller was looking to make improvements to his Sellwood loft, he asked a friend for a referral. He and Angela were like old buddies almost immediately. “Don naturally has good design taste and knows what he likes when he sees it. He is true to an earthy color palette; he likes Craftsman lines, cozy spaces, and gravitates to things that give him inspiration, memories and nostalgia. We made key changes that personalized his loft and surrounded him in pieces that told the story of his life, travels and aspirations,” Angela recalled.
Like all writers, Don is an avid book reader, and we helped him display his books in a way that they were accessible and meaningful – building a custom bookshelf in the living room. Don is also a world traveler, and had many mementos from journeys. Although, it was necessary to add accessory pieces to his home, we were very careful in our selection process. We wanted items that carried a story, and didn’t appear that they were mass produced in the home décor market. For example, we found a 1930’s typewriter in Portland’s Alameda District to serve as a focal point for Don’s coffee table – a piece that will no doubt launch many interesting conversations.

Devon Grace InteriorsA sleek, modern fireplace is centered in the living room to create a focal point in the space. We selected a simple, porcelain tile surround and a minimal, white oak mantle to give the fireplace a super modern look.
Simple StepsThis contemporary living room has a murano glass surround called Murano 3. These are different colors and this material is can be used indoor or outdoor.
James River Construction, LLC.This large, open living space is off the main entryway of the house and opens to the kitchen and dining space. Vaulted 20 foot ceilings with double windows allow in loads of natural light and open to the second floor balcony. The private view of the outdoor space expands the living room with an exterior living room through the French doors.
