Newbury Addition and Kitchen Remodel
The owners of this home sought to expand and open their kitchen area. The family sought more room for entertaining, storage, as well as an outdoor living area with an open wood-burning fireplace.
To accomplish the homeowners’ vision, we removed a load-bearing wall and installed a support beam. We constructed a new 18’x18’ sunroom off of the kitchen and a built a new 10’x12’ covered porch. A total of 8 new windows were installed, enhancing the open concept and providing outdoor light. A new bench seat the full width of the room was added, with deep drawers below for additional storage. Existing cabinetry was re-used, and we added custom raised-panel cabinets for the island, wet bar and oven area. The owners chose solid surface counters and hardwood floors to complete the space.
Outside, a new 10’x12’ covered patio was constructed. The exterior trim consists of column fiber cement siding, gable soffit, and fascia for porch ceiling. Stone was used for the half wall on the addition. The owners now enjoy their wood and gas burning fireplace with unit with stone veneer.
