The Art of LandscapeClose up view of rugged stone slab steps that are fitted gracefully into the stone veneered wall and lead down to the lowest terrace that looks out over the river gorge below. These steps are carfeully integrated with the boulders to give the effect of these being carved right out of the natural bedrock. They look rugged but they are smooth even surfaces, set at an easy, walking cadence so going from the top to the bottom of the whole terrace system is a very easy and comfortable barefoot stroll.

Harmony Design NorthwestThe gently sloping yard is divided into two distinct areas.
We kept a large grassy area for the dogs and to offset the large patio.
Instead of a harsh retaining we used the slope to create a natural stone stream bed that collects rainwater and drains it away from the house.
Braen SupplyMaintaining the Lake House Feel
This homeowner came into Braen Supply looking for advice on choosing a stone to match his lake house. With cedar shake siding already in place the benefits of using warmer earth tones to keep the lake house feel in place was discussed.
To compliment the project the homeowner was looking for a patio and walkway stone that would pair perfectly with the thin veneer that was chosen for the landscape and retaining walls. Norwegian Buff was the perfect match for the area around the pool as well as for the walkway leading to the home.

The experts at Braen Supply were able to find the perfect material to meet the homeowner’s needs and then used that to find materials for the facade, patio, walkway and steps. Together they were able to achieve the perfect blend of colors and stones to keep the lake house look and feel the homeowner loved.

Rather than add more expensive and unattractive curbs that can damage tire side walls, granite boulders were added to notify poor drivers that they are off the pavement, and thus protect the plants.

DDLA Design Landscape ArchitectureLocated in the Lake County area north of Kelowna, this property provides stunning views of the Okanagan Lake. The front entry required the creation of a series of terraces with lush gardens, lawn areas, an arbor, glide swing, grass paths and decorative landscape lighting. A new, new decorative entry gate was designed to welcome the visitors and compliment the architecture of the residence. A steep slope from the main road to the garage required a new heated driveway finished with decorative paving bands and borders.
