Think Chic InteriorsAn awkward shaped space got a face lift with custom built ins and a custom bed filled with hidden storage, creating a charming little boys bedroom that can be grown into over many years. The bed and the built ins are painted in Benjamin Moore Twilight. The copper pulls, ladder and chandelier were custom made out of hardware store pipes and The ceiling over the bed was painted in Benjamin Moore Hale Navy and is filled with silver stars. Projet Wabi-sabiUn loft immense, dans un ancien garage, à rénover entièrement pour moins de 250 euros par mètre carré ! Il a fallu ruser.... les anciens propriétaires avaient peint les murs en vert pomme et en violet, aucun sol n'était semblable à l'autre.... l'uniformisation s'est faite par le choix d'un beau blanc mat partout, sols murs et plafonds, avec un revêtement de sol pour usage commercial qui a permis de proposer de la résistance tout en conservant le bel aspect des lattes de parquet (en réalité un parquet flottant de très mauvaise facture, qui semble ainsi du parquet massif simplement peint). Le blanc a aussi apporté de la luminosité et une impression de calme, d'espace et de quiétude, tout en jouant au maximum de la luminosité naturelle dans cet ancien garage où les seules fenêtres sont des fenêtres de toit qui laissent seulement voir le ciel. La salle de bain était en carrelage marron, remplacé par des carreaux émaillés imitation zelliges ; pour donner du cachet et un caractère unique au lieu, les meubles ont été maçonnés sur mesure : plan vasque dans la salle de bain, bibliothèque dans le salon de lecture, vaisselier dans l'espace dinatoire, meuble de rangement pour les jouets dans le coin des enfants. La cuisine ne pouvait pas être refaite entièrement pour une question de budget, on a donc simplement remplacé les portes blanches laquées d'origine par du beau pin huilé et des poignées industrielles. Toujours pour respecter les contraintes financières de la famille, les meubles et accessoires ont été dans la mesure du possible chinés sur internet ou aux puces. Les nouveaux propriétaires souhaitaient un univers industriels campagnard, un sentiment de maison de vacances en noir, blanc et bois. Seule exception : la chambre d'enfants (une petite fille et un bébé) pour laquelle une estrade sur mesure a été imaginée, avec des rangements en dessous et un espace pour la tête de lit du berceau. Le papier peint Rebel Walls à l'ambiance sylvestre complète la déco, très nature et poétique.

DHD Architecture and Interior DesignMontgomery Place Townhouse
The unique and exclusive property on Montgomery Place, located between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West, was designed in 1898 by the architecture firm Babb, Cook & Willard. It contains an expansive seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two powder rooms. The firm was simultaneously working on the East 91st Street Andrew Carnegie Mansion during the period, and ensured the 30.5’ wide limestone at Montgomery Place would boast landmark historic details, including six fireplaces, an original Otis elevator, and a grand spiral staircase running across the four floors. After a two and half year renovation, which had modernized the home – adding five skylights, a wood burning fireplace, an outfitted butler’s kitchen and Waterworks fixtures throughout – the landmark mansion was sold in 2014. DHD Architecture and Interior Design were hired by the buyers, a young family who had moved from their Tribeca Loft, to further renovate and create a fresh, modern home, without compromising the structure’s historic features. The interiors were designed with a chic, bold, yet warm aesthetic in mind, mixing vibrant palettes into livable spaces.

nest interiorsThis sweet woodland nursery features custom crib bedding, a repurposed emerald green chalk-painted dresser that doubles as a changing station, and a vintage dark brown Jenny Lind crib. The space also features a graphic charcoal and white striped tent with custom pom-pom topper, wooden bead and paper bunting, and a faux deer head. Faux fur rugs and a rattan chair and ottoman finish the space.
