“We worked with Davide Giannella, who is an Italian and the principal, on a house expansion of over 800SF. The house was a ranch home. Davide designed an elevated roof with clerestory windows for the new family room, added two bedrooms and one bathroom, and re-designed the front and back yards so that we have a flagstone terrace with concrete benches and outdoor kitchen. I found him a good listener, with creative solutions, and effortlessly blends the client's requirement and taste with what is modern and classy. I also found that he is a master of light. He strategically positions skylights and clerestory windows so that our interior is bathed in light. He gives great style recommendations about interior, furniture placement, color and lighting. We can ask him about almost everything. He has a wholistic vision and the skills and taste to bring it to life. His plans are one of the most detailed many of our contractors have seen. We consider ourselves lucky to work with him and the money well spent.”

“A wonderful team who designed an elegant, amazing modern remodel and addition of our row house in San Francisco. The project had numerous obstacles including a load bearing wall that was over the property line, a very steep hill side with a ton of earthquake retrofitting required, and a bridge to link two buildings. They are wonderful at asking just the right questions to figure out the best uses of space and how to design for how you really live, are very professional, and extremely organized, articulate, and resourceful. “I just completed a complete remodel of my San Francisco Edwardian flat and build out my basement. Joanne and her staff did a fantastic job. It started out as a kitchen bath remodel, but once the design process started expanded to include every room as we discussed how different spaces would be used and what I didn't like about the current space after living with it for 20yrs. Might as well do it right! Joanne's attention to detail, listening, and high ethical standards are unmatched. She would listen in the meetings and ask questions then come back with some ideas and sketches to get my reaction. She knew what I wanted without me even knowing it. She brought with her experience in projects of my scope / scale and working with different contractors and even her own remodel. This helped immensely. The thing that surprised us the most in working with them was how stress-free we were as clients. During construction, there are always a million decisions that need to be made and we were always confident in the ones we were making because we always felt like a team. We were always informed every step of the way in the design process and beyond. As issues would inevitably come up, we never felt lost or confused because FAME would always have either the issues solved already or a solid well thought out plan B or even plan C. Even at the most frustrating times during our build, we would still describe the process as stress-free because they were always with us 100% and carried us all the way through to the finish line. FAME was a dream team to work with and honestly I look forward to the day we can do another project together.”
