Jayna Pittman Block 1 Idea book
Proportion: This room is a great example of proportion. The foyer is grand. The area rug is proportionate with the grand opening. The big chair and standing lamp is proportionate with the grand foyer as well as the painting. The proportion gives the room a grand feel. Like it would be weird if they placed a small chair and a small lamp. That would not be proportionate. It gives the space a sense of grounding-ness too.
Asymmetrical Balance: This space is a great example of asymmetrical balance with the uncentered fireplace and the other beams going across. The asymmetrical balance creates a almost unsettling feel, yet it helps move the eye from one place to another really well. It creates a lot of visual interest too. It also is a great example of horizontal lines.
Radial Balance: This is a great example of radial of balance with the round table and the very sharp shapes of the pillows and the window. I think the radial balance creates a sense of tranquility and it is very calming although the curves and the sharpness contrast.
Repetition: This room is a great example of repetition with the art pieces behind the bed as well as the green pillows. They create a sense of balance and they are also a great visual interest with the contrast of the dark colors and light. The repetition creates movement and it's great for a room like a bedroom.
Transition: This is a great example of transition with the curvy staircase. I think it's a great transition drawing your eye up to the upstairs. It creates a great flow, yet its grounding because the neutral colors.
Gradation: This a great example of gradation with the shower backsplash. It fades from dark blue to light blue. This gradation creates a sense of flow and tranquility.
Focal Point: This is a great example of a focal point with the giant clock. Your eye is immediately drawn to it. I think the clock adds a grounding affect to the space since it's so big.
Vertical Line: This space is a great example of vertical lines with all the drapery in the back of the room. The purpose these may serve it to create an illusion that the room in taller and I feel like it does.
