Azenco OutdoorThe owners of a penthouse wanted something special to protect them from Miami's hot sun and strong winds. They wanted a solution that kept the beautiful view of downtown and the ocean, but was also strong enough for hurricanes. They found Azenco R-Blade: a motorized retractable pergola with louvered roof. It will work all day, no matter the wind or weather! To create a consistently usable space, the customer outfitted their area with motorized retractable screens. The Azenco R-Blade was an ideal choice for this, as it offers incomparable versatility - from louvered roof that can be opened and closed at will to its full suite of features.
Mjolnir ConstructionThis gorgeous 10' x 14' deck was framed with brown pressure treated wood situated on helical piles.
Composite decking and stair treads are from the TimberTech EDGE®
Prime+ Collection® in the colour Coconut Husk.
The aluminum railing is supplied by Imperial Kool-Ray, and part of the 5000 series with 3/4" x 3/4" spindles in the colour Commercial Brown.
The project took four days to complete with the framing and final inspections completed by the City of Ottawa.

Benvinguts al Slow Design!Para acabar de hacer diáfano el espacio, hay que buscar una solución de carpintería que cierre la terraza, pero que permita dejar el espacio abierto si se desea. Por eso planteamos una carpintería de tres hojas que se pliegan sobre ellas mismas y que al abrirse, permiten colocar la mesa del comedor extensible y poder reunirse un buen grupo de gente en el fresco exterior, ya que las guías inferiores están empotradas en el pavimento.
Finalmente se abre la galería que antiguamente se había cerrado formando parte del interior de la vivienda. Volvemos a darle la función de espacio exterior, y así tener una bonita terraza donde sentarse y relajarse al final de una dura jornada de trabajo. También aprovechamos un lateral de este espacio para ubicar un baño secundario y el armario de la lavadora y caldera.
