Exuberance
This woodland garden has a perfect dappled shade environment. There is a 5' boulder retaining wall between the grade of the house and the woodland garden with 2 sets of steps providing access. The woodland garden area was very rocky and had been compacted and corrupted during construction so we dug out in between the trees and added 8-12" of good soil. This photo was taken in early September. You can see a great variety of plants in this photo including mountain laurel, various ferns, goat's beard, mountain mint, joe pye weed, turtleheads and a pagoda dogwood.
