“Erwan built custom cabinets for our 1922 small Berkeley kitchen, which had last been redone in probably the 1940s. We wanted to keep some period details in the design while adding modern convenience and more storage and counter space. The cabinets are amazing. He meticulously matched odd little details by hand. This was especially important because we kept our old pantry & one set of upper cabinets. The new cabinets are sturdy & very well-installed.
From his first visit Erwan listened carefully to our needs & desires. He made very good suggestions but never tried to impose his preferences on us. He built and installed on time & on budget. He is flexible about working with other workers in our house. He's also been good about taking on a couple of smaller jobs not in the original description, from a small window sill to the interior of a new closet in another part of the house.
When we were first thinking about this project I spent time looking at stock & semi-custom cabinets. The overall cost for our new cabinets is comparable to good quality semi-custom & the result is so much more satisfying. Not only is the appearance just right, but we were able to customize sizing for some particular dishes.”

“I chose the Cabinet Tree to make my cabinets because I was looking for something extraordinary and creative. Jim is the kind of person that can see beyond normal design and he really understood what I was looking for. He worked with my ideas and put them into amazing designs with function that every day (2 years later) I love being in both my kitchen and my bathroom. And he kept my creative nature down to earth without compromising it. There are many innovative ideas he had, a coffee cup rack on the inside door just about where we had him put our coffee maker, a spice rack that pulls out to make room to put bigger things in the cupboard, and my favorite, that I still awe people with; a huge drawer that pulls out 4 feet (utilizing the empty space under my island) that holds my extra folding chairs and large pots and pans. Jim's ingenuity and craftsmanship is above the rest, and a perfect match for my creative project.”

“Vadzim was the perfect cabinetmaker. He made cabinets throughout our entire home -- new kitchen with new island, family room, living room, media room, custom children's hallway, bathroom vanity, custom mantle, laundry room, and kitchen table. He was also responsible for the finishing touches, such as the handrails on the stairs and the crown molding. He was very responsive and turned around requests quickly. He was thoughtful - in many cases more thoughtful than we were. He really helped us think through the uses of the cabinetry and made excellent suggestions for improvement that integrated the design of our whole home. For example he asked us to make the countertops thicker to ensure outlet plug strips were hidden. His designs were perfect and thoughtful, down to the fraction of an inch. He also crafted a custom table for us when we couldn't find a white oval table in the right dimensions. Even with all of this excellent attention to detail and responsiveness, he was considerate of our budget. For example we were able to re-use some old kitchen drawers with new faces, and he sent us a high-end and low-end set of hardware to choose from for a very large door. Vadzim takes great pride in his work and is truly an artist with an appreciation for functionality. The cabinetry is all beautiful and works perfectly - all of it. We will absolutely use him again for every custom cabinetry need we have in the future.”
