“Sun Plans, Inc and Architect, Debbie Coleman were fabulous to work with in the design of RISE - our passive solar home. Sean and I wanted to build a passive solar, sustainable green design home for years. We searched for the perfect lot, and once found, we searched for the perfect home design. We quickly found Sun Plans, as 100% of their focus is passive solar. We bought Debbie's book, The Sun Inspired House, and found elements of houses that we loved - open floor plans, lofts, atriums, towers, airlock entry ways, and more. You can buy a plan, adapt a plan or work with Debbie on a new design. We thought we could adapt, but soon learned that we had some customized aspects that would lead to the creation of RISE - primarily the clerestory. The design process took about a year from beginning to end, and was done 100% through email and phone calls. Debbie was wonderfully responsive, not only to us as clients, but to our builder, structural engineer, energy analysts, and more. We stay in touch to this day and we do hope to meet in person at some point! “We went to Coast Architects with the dream of a new porch. We wanted a space that our entire family could enjoy now and into the future. We shared our dream of a Southern Porch bursting with charm, comfort and style with Coast Architects. Phillip Owen designed a beautiful porch for us that exceeded our expectations. He divided our porch into four zones. The first was a sitting area around a fireplace with a large television. (This is SEC country) He designed a reading area, a napping area and a gazebo for eating. We just love it. Phillip's architecture is amazing. The ceiling beams are connected with custom metal fabrications. The stain color he recommended is warm and inviting. The fireplace design and cabinetry commands your attention as you walk onto the porch. It is a real focal point. The intricacies of the gazebo ceiling also contribute to making our porch special. Don't hesitate to hire Coast Architects!”
