YardDocYardDoc designed and created multiple rock landscapes for customers in Austin, TX. These drought resistant landscapes liven up your yard with unique designs and individual beauty. While we craft every landscape to the yard and customer, we present examples here to inspire you.
In this garden, we worked with the existing trees and hedges. We added ferns and succulents to round out the look. Next, we laid mulch, then placed two planters, one containing a small tree. We created a path using dark river rocks, and large, asymmetrical, flat-topped stones as a walkway through the garden. We created shallow retaining walls of natural stone, along the path, to keep mulch free of rocks and vice versa. Finally, we placed solar lights so this area remains functional and enjoyable at night.
Overall, we think this adds a wonderful, fairytale feel to this space, without the commitment to extensive maintenance and care installing a faerie garden entails.

Neylan Architects, needed large scale landscape and detail to extend the elegant limestone spatial treatments on the facade into a tailored yet full landscape. Flowering Dogwood trees surround the terrace and custom containers by ORE,INC. are used throughout project for Espalier and Boxwood hedging. Front Chip & Seal drive court is edged with tumbled limestone curbing and finished with black quartzite gravel. Carex 'Ice Dance' and Mugo Pines soften the transition to the front lawn.Deirdre Toner

Pacific Garden DesignAfter moving into a mid-century ranch home on Spokane's South Hill, these homeowners gave the tired landscape a dramatic makeover. The aging asphalt driveway was replaced by precast concrete pavers that coordinate with a new walkway of sandwashed concrete pads. A pared-down front lawn reduces the overall water use of the landscape, while sculptural boulders add character. A small flagstone patio creates a spot to enjoy the outdoors in the courtyard-like area between the house and the towering ponderosa pines. The backyard received a similar update, with a new garden area, water feature, and paver patio anchoring the updated space.

Davidson Design StudioThe existing slate tiled terrace was extended with the addition of an entertaining deck. Garden bed edging of recycled bluestone surrounds a new lawn of Matilda Buffalo grass beneath existing native Agonis and Tea-tree. The natural materials reflect the timber and masonry of the home and native plantings complement the Bayside location.
Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignWith a limited budget, we were able to transform and update this front garden with a new modern pathway, a small patio, and a variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants. The black mulch completes this modern landscape design transformation. Northwest Native Landscapes LLCDramatic plant textures, modern hardscaping and sharp angles enhanced this mid-century modern bungalow. Soft plants were chosen to contrast with the sharp angles of the pathways and hard edges of the MCM home, while providing all-season interest. Horizontal privacy screens wrap the front porch and create intimate garden spaces – some visible only from the street and some visible only from inside the home. The front yard is relatively small in size, but full of colorful texture.
