Master Bedroom
Consider the Furniture Layout Your bedroom’s architecture should take your furniture into account. Bedroom floor plans usually have a bed wall — but what about dressers, nightstands, TVs, chairs and a desk? Work with your architect or designer to make sure there is enough space beside the bed for nightstands and ample circulation so you can access three sides of the mattress.
Keep Privacy in Mind It’s always nice when you can leave the bedroom door open without forsaking all of your privacy. The small foyer in this drawing provides separation from the family room. I always try to avoid designing a layout in which you look directly into the bedroom from a more public space, like a great room, kitchen or family room.
Focus on the View A bedroom always feels nicer when the first thing you experience is a pleasant view out the window — as opposed to a view looking straight at the bed. If you’re designing a new bedroom or reworking an old one, try to come up with a layout that focuses on the vista — whether it’s something as stunning as a lake or as simple as your backyard.
Use string lights in the bedroom. Whether you choose plain white twinkle lights or mini paper lanterns on a string, fairy lights bring a magical touch to the winter bedroom. Drape them from the headboard, hang them vertically from a curtain rod or drape them across the top of the closet. Before bed put out all lights but the twinkle lights and candle, and revel in the ambience.
Giveaway basket. The next time you’re getting dressed and realize you don’t like a piece of clothing, don’t hang it back up — drop it into your giveaway bin! A basket on the floor of your closet makes an easy place to collect items to share; when it’s full, bring it to your local donation center or consignment shop if you’d prefer to sell.
Clean the air. Allergies or no allergies, we can all benefit from sleeping in a cleaner, healthier bedroom. Here are a few ways to keep the air in your bedroom fresh and pure all year long: Use an air purifier with a HEPA filter to remove dust, pollen and air pollutants Keep a houseplant or two in the bedroom (rubber plants are especially good at cleaning the air) Make the bedroom a no-shoes zone Vacuum and dust weekly (including under the bed), more often if you have allergies Open the windows to air out the space for at least 30 minutes each morning Choose natural fibers and materials that don’t contain harmful VOCs
Kind of like how they've made the chest more modern with the more industrial lamp, simple picture, and single leaf. Think that might work nicely in my bedroom.
If you have interesting, oversize windows or a nice view to frame, think about adding dramatic, oversize window treatments to create a feature wall, as has been done above.
Another way to drape the canopy bed. Might be nice for winter.
Kind of interesting take on not having a Tommy Bahama look. Is mine too Tommy? "The guest room’s four-poster bed frame could have gone in multiple directions stylistically. To keep it from looking too predictably “Tommy Bahama,” they went for a modern bohemian look by layering it with bedding from John Robshaw." But I don't exactly see the BoHo look.
Actually this was the bedroom I meant to save although I did love the touch of turquoise in the previous.
If I get tired of the color in the bedroom - love this calm look of white, tans, beiges.
Those look like exactly my chairs.
Love the little silver frames! Perfect. Antique ones would be nice as well.
I would love to see this on the dresser. The small picture in front to the big picture - could still do it with the mirror. The birds on books. Orchid.
About $450 for a set, but they don't have king-size pillow cases in pink.
If the pink pillow cases are too small - add some white trim. Love these scallops!
15x32 Pillow insert at $33 @tonicliving.com
Fabrics that go with the Magenta Jacaranda China Seas Quadrille
Dressing the bed - like the three Euro shams and two square pillows.
I would die for these chairs!
$148
Like it, but it's acrylic. $37 at Overstock.com
Center Euro in a different color, then regular pillows, then two matching pillows and two decorator pillows.
Two Euros, two pillows and two decorator pillows
Three Euro shams
Biggest to smallest, back to front. This simple rule ensures that the selection of fabrics and colors of the decorative pillows are all highlighted.
For a King bed, I have three Euros, two King pillows and two standard pillows

How to dress a king-size bed
three Euro shams
Another swag idea - like the ties.
Another way to swag the bed
White cushions on the bench with lots of navy - love the bougainvillea. Love the use of jute. The turquoise in the back. Mix of white, wood, navy, and pink!
Love the way this is swagged and tied, but I would do it at the head of the bed.
Instead of mosquito netting - linen or linen look. Need 25 yards. The bed is just what I want two Euro shams plus bolster.
The blue and white piping on the white cushions. On the wicker chairs I could see doing the bottom cushions in white and then the two upper pillows in a print.
Soft!
Would a bookshelf be possible in there? Tall bookcase + hanging rods + wall hooks. A tall, shallow bookcase anchored to the wall provides ample storage space for folded clothes and accessories in this petite closet. Opposite the shelving, rods hold hanging clothes and a set of wall hooks provides a handy drop spot for scarves and jackets.
The color is Blue Springs by Benjamin Moore. It is a bit too blue, but love the pale pink accents with plenty of white.
Sherwin Williams Sea Salt. Very soothing.
Wall paint: Woodlawn Blue, HC-147, Benjamin Moore; also try Lulworth Blue No. 89, Farrow & Ball, or Gossamer Blue 2123-40, Benjamin Moore
Maybe a two tone quilt or other at the end of the bed. Like the bedspread with the piping. Easy enough to make.
The fish bowl with the palm would look great in the master bedroom.
Animal prints on the wicker chairs
Animal print in frame by the zebra chair. Want animal prints someplace.
Large pillows on the bench instead of small ones. Might try a mirror over the bench? Put the two carved plaques over the dresser? Basket of orchids on a stand.
The natural bed with white dressed bed with navy accents. Then add the black and white - nice!
Love the watery blues, but they the animal print on the bench. I could use animal print pillows on the wicker chairs.
Possible accent wall?
Loving the seafoam green accents.
