Cordelia + Nicolas Siding and Color
Here is a recessed area with a trimmed frame. Even though it is thin trim, I find it interruptive (not awful, just not ideal), and would prefer the smooth transition of shingles around the corner better. That said, if there were a change of material here (like to the T&G on the inside surfaces), it would probably be more convincing.
I understand that Phil has mentioned using copper to bring in light on ceiling, and I just want to make sure we are clear on how something like that would detail, and if it is, in fact, going to "bring in light" (patina in time?). If natural light is a concern, could consider skylights at screen porch. I was imagining a ceiling more like this, but I am open to ideas.
This is what I was thinking for the recessed seating nook. A wrapped shingle, with no need for trim. The back wall could be the horizontal T&G as discussed (and could turn return to become the ceiling soffit too?).
