Sunnyside, back to the basics of landscaping – Beaconsfield
A garden design from the most basic materials and striped back to its bare bones. Honest and simple was exactly what the client asked for. The newly refurbished property contained the same materials brief for the interior… Stark and almost unfinished…
Concrete in various dimensions, galvanised steel, natural stone and shingle with a very simple planting scheme – Lawn and wild flowers.
36 cubic metres plus were repositioned to other parts of the garden to create the new elevations, there were in excess of 38 cubic metres taken away from site. 24 tonnes of new concrete formed and poured for walls gave this project over 168 tonnes of materials.
The Design
Austere and stark, straight lines and very little movement away from the straight and narrow. The concrete forms are softened with the sea of gravel. The only planting was the lawn to grow in and around the drive poured concrete and the banks of soil smothered in wild flower seeds.
The planting scheme
Lawn - Sovereign Turf
Wild flower mix - Woodlands Edge and Treasure Chest
Hedging - Ligustrum Ovalifolium 1.5 metres high
Trees - Prunus Serrula “Tibetan Cherry”, Olea Europaea, Eriobotrya Japonica
