Rural Retreat; Hampshire
A wonderful rural farmhouse dwelling located in a quiet hamlet in Hampshire. The warm red and burnt orange brickwork of the existing buildings works well as a contrast to the traditional FONTE Darley Riven Flagstones, boldly edged and interspersed with the DENLEY Wessex Blend Bricks. The frost-proof, handmade clay bricks were used to form the demarcation edgings, steps and feature paving in the large terrace area, which worked well as straight lines or sweeping curves and circles. All paving stones and bricks were installed over CARREG Graded type 1 Subbase, wall foundations constructed with CARREG 20mm all-in Ballast and CARREG Building Sand supplied from our range of construction aggregates. Large volumes of our EGRO Medium Soil and EGRO Premium Blend Soil were introduced to build up levels, providing a naturally nutritious and free draining grass meadow as well as a fertile growing medium for established shrub and tree planting. A lush instant lawn was installed using EGRO Gold Medal Turf providing ornamental formal lawns and grass paths. A good planting design will always specify a composted bark and EGRO Grower Bark was chosen as a natural fine bark to retain moisture and suppress weeds, allowing the plants to establish with little maintenance. CARREG Medallion Gold Flint provides a hard wearing and practical driveway surface, providing a warm contrast and natural security, magnifying the sound of any vehicle or pedestrian passing over the surface. Finishing touches include the bespoke BRITANNIA Oak Gates and BRITANNIA Oak Posts providing decorative and long lasting security.
