Statewide Remodeling
Originally, there was a raised bar behind the sink. Per the customer’s request, Statewide Remodeling lowered the 42” tall wall to the same height as the base cabinets, requiring all of the electrical outlets to be relocated.
Statewide Remodeling paneled the wall to match the new cabinetry. New recessed can lighting, pendant lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and above-cabinet accent lighting were all rewired and installed by Statewide Remodeling, as well as the retexturing and repainting of all affected walls.
All of the existing cabinets, countertops, backsplash and appliances were removed by Statewide Remodeling and all new materials installed by Statewide Remodeling.

Darci Hether New York
Our client for this project has a beautiful home in the suburbs but wanted a second home in NYC. He's a financier and spends 2-4 nights per week in the city, so he came to our New York City design studio to design his new build pied-à-terre in Tribeca. He wanted an upscale, family-friendly apartment as his college-age children might use the apartment, too. Our goal was to create a soothing, moody, textural, comfortable, and contemporary home. The entryway welcomes you with dark gray, deeply textured wallpaper and statement pieces like the angular mirror and black metal table that are an ode to NYC industrial style. The open kitchen and dining are sleek and flaunt statement metal lights, while the living room features textured contemporary furniture and a stylish bar cart. The bedroom is an oasis of calm and relaxation, with the textured wallpaper playing the design focal point. The luxury extends to the powder room with modern brass pendants, warm-toned natural stone, deep-toned walls, and organic-inspired artwork.

Our interior design service area is all of New York City including the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, as well as the Hamptons, Scarsdale, Mamaroneck, Rye, Rye City, Edgemont, Harrison, Bronxville, and Greenwich CT.

London Timber Windows and Doors
Here you can see the traditional option in Grey with welded corner joints, deep bottom rail and 60mm midrail.
FYI – With uPVC sliding sash windows you have a choice of two styles. Each style has several upgrades and design alternatives to choose from. The two styles are ‘Traditional’ and ‘Heritage’. Both options give you very similar performance in terms of quality, heat retention, sound proofing, and longevity.
Both options Include as standard - Period deep bottom rail. Period external ‘run-through’ horns. Toughened safety glass in the bottom panes. Full box removal, thermal foam insulation & replacement of the internal architrave to match your current period architrave. A rated double glazing for optimum heat retention. A rated Frames for optimum draught proofing, and sound proofing. Tilt ventilation feature. Key operated sash locking, sash lifts, pole eyes, sash limit stops, tilt knobs. A choice of welded or butt jointed corners. A choice of smooth frame surface or woodgrain effect frame surface.
Heritage - The heritage specification is achieved by adding two, three or four features which the ‘traditional’ frames do not have. 1) A slightly deeper bottom rail. 2) An even slimmer mid-rail 3) External putty line beading 4) White suited spacer bar, gaskets, and draught proof seals.
How to decide - As a rule of thumb, clients who tell me they want their new windows to look as close as possible like real timber windows down to the finest detail, go for Heritage and pay the extra £100 or £200 per window. Clients who want good quality with some period features, but who are not too bothered about replicating timber details down to the nth degree, go for ‘traditional’. Both options look very similar, and the differences need pointing out in the showroom.

Il locale interrato, un tempo ad uso dell'officina, diventa una piccola cantina climatizzata per le bottiglie più pregiate ed emerge in superficie con il bancone in cristallo sfaccettato.
The underground floor, usually a repairing space, becomes a small cellar covered by the unique piece of furniture made of multi-sided glass that is used as a bar top.
Megowan Architectural
This project is a modern 1200 square foot addition onto the rear of a hundred year old Victorian home a block away from the University of Southern California. Over the years, the interior of the existing house had slowly been partitioned off to become a duplex with dormitory type accommodations for students. Programmatically, the new addition sought to add a large common social space as well as two extra bedrooms to each unit. In order to respect the proportions and architectural character of the Victorian, old and new were kept at bay by a five foot wide clear polycarbonate annex which served to resolve all sectional circulation connections between old and new.
As the area surrounding the University becomes more dense given the increase in demand for housing, many older homes are being demolished to make way for larger apartment blocks. In this scenario, this addition prevented the waste and demolition of the older house and reappropriated it’s use to accommodate the areas demand for higher occupancy. Ultimately, it is more green to find creative ways to upgrade and reuse existing structures than to demolish and build new.
This project is owned and was developed by two students at the University of Southern California. Christopher Megowan, one of the two students/owners, designed the project while still studying at the School of Architecture. Purchased as a student housing investment, the addition was constructed on a tight budget at less than 130 dollars a square foot.
CMD sought out to design the addition as efficiently as possible in order to not complicate construction and reduce material waste. Designed on materials grid, the main volume of the addition was detailed from the exterior 4′x8′ fiber cement panels and polycarbonate in. Given the “urban” nature of the property and context in the rear (the addition is adjacent to parking and an alley), light and air were prioritized over a view. The design provides more evenly filtered natural light at a fraction of the price of glass. Further, in a neighborhood with bars over the windows of most homes, the polycarbonate provides much more security than glass. Light and air are separated into two functions as ventilation flaps seamlessly clad in the fiber cement panel and two operable skylights allow for air to pass through and promote passive ventilation.
The polycarbonate walls are wired in between studs to accommodate lighting which would allow for the walls to glow (the initial intent was that color changing LEDs would be placed between the studs to allow the walls to change color, however this solution proved too costly). In using the fiber cement panel rainscreen, thermally stabilizing concrete floors on the lower unit, and the polycarbonate, this addition was able to be constructed at a price per square foot competitive with stucco and other less desirable finishes.
The interior volumes benefit from tall ceilings and open spatial flow between the existing house, the annex and the common rooms of the addition. The bedrooms, each have a wall of sliding doors providing privacy between spaces and enclosing the closets which serve as a sound barrier to the common spaces.

Keep in mind that Sugar Bear is a Newfie. We’re talking 132 lbs of doggie goodness. In other words, with Sugar Bear for scale, it’s plain to see that this is a massive mudroom.
This mudroom is one part of a two-floor remodel we did for a family of four. The project included a primary bath remodel and the reimagining of a downstairs family room area, which yielded this mudroom and a large entertaining space worthy of a wet bar.
Design Objective
-Create a bright, open space that doesn’t get congested when all family members are using it at the same time.
Design Challenge:
-Provide storage for all family members for their individual needs.
Design Solutions:
-The bench/floating shelves areas (to the right) are designed to give each family member (and guest) a welcoming place to hang coats and backpacks, etc., and store shoes – all in the same area per person.
-The three closets on the opposite side of the room are for extra coats, overflow shoes, sports equipment, Sugar Bear gear, board game storage, etc.
-The middle closet allows access to the rear panels of AV and gaming consoles in the adjacent room’s entertainment niche below the TV.
This is a highly used space by all of the family members. Abundant storage and functionality make this an efficient space for all.
Bennett Contracting, Inc.
If a family needs more living space in their home, before considering an addition, the first place to look is the basement. This family in Slingerlands already had a partially finished basement when they contacted Bennett, but they wanted to increase the finished space and modernize their basement. Once completed, the basement stairs lead to a beautiful entertainment center with seating and a great space for the kids to relax. A convenient small bar area allows a spot to prepare snacks for movies. There is plenty of room to add games like a pool table or ping pong table, as well as exercise equipment. Our carpenters Bob and Dom were able to add a new bathroom to the basement, with shower. As per code, we added a new stairwell egress to the basement. They also wanted to make sure they kept plenty of unfinished space for both a work bench, as well as storage. At the end of the day, this house added tons of square footage with functional and comfortable living space.
