Like many Phantom Screens install stories, this project started with an ambitious kitchen / dining room renovation. Wanting to maximise natural light, two large sets of bifold doors were installed to the back of the house.. As this room was designed to connect with the outdoors, it can be seamlessly transformed into an inside/outside living space simply by fully opening the bifold doors.
Sounds tranquil? Almost. The homeowner soon found they required a solution to insects and spiders that can enter the house when leaving the bifold doors open. After doing some research into bespoke insect screens for bifold doors, they came straight to Phantom Screens.
Following a brief exchange over the phone, a free home survey was booked in at a convenient time for the customer. Our team then visited the property to take precise measurements and discuss the customers’ needs at length.
It was decided that two double Distinction XL screens would be installed – one to each set of doors. Distinction screens have an elegant and distinctive look, the pleated mesh making them unique among the Phantom Screens’ range.
Not only does the screen provide total insect protection, but it also allows the best of the outside in. This means the summer breeze can ventilate the home, removing stale air to keep the home feeling fresh. An additional benefit to using screens for natural ventilation is that they can help save on air conditioning costs.
High-quality design was of particular importance to this customer. The screen was colour matched to the existing door frames (RAL 7016 matt) to ensure it blended in perfectly with the design of the home. This homeowner wasn’t looking to put up curtains or blinds that would spoil the view of the garden, and was perfectly happy with the sophisticated, minimalist look of the screens.
Our customer now makes the most of their bifold doors, enjoying insect-free fresh air and unspoilt views of their garden thanks to their new pleated screens.
