Hopewell Junction Cape-Powder Room

What do you do with a small powder room with original Lime Green fixtures from 1972 and faux-wood paneling on the wall when you have a very small budget???
This is what you do!
The existing fixtures and tile floors were kept and their bright, cheery, (some would say "vintage") quality was honored! We just removed the old Waverly floral borders that the client had put up in the early 90s and switched out the original baseboard heater with a new one. Then we let the good times roll!
We have Benjamin Moore's "Sweet Pear" on the walls and "Super White" on the new wainscoting (which was installed by local contractor Dave Stout from Carpentry Concepts OVER the aforementioned faux wood paneling). The paneling was finished with a dimensional chair rail that acts as a bit of a shelf.
A Pottery Barn Vanity Mirror and Silk-Shaded Wall Sconce from Restoration Hardware open up this small space as does the vintage-inspired Hudson Valley Lighting Schoolhouse Ceiling Fixture (not pictured).
We mounted the flat roman shade halfway between the window header and the ceiling to move your eye upward and showcase this pretty stylized floral Robert Allen textile. Original shutters were painted the same white of the trim.
Fresh linens and accessories from both local boutiques and mainstream shops (like Terrain, West Elm and Pottery Barn) finish the space, as do vases that are always filled with fresh flowers or greens
These simple but impacting touches make this a favorite room in this home!
