Working on this 1926 frat, I felt like we should be filming an episode of "This Old Frat House". The first room the Smith & Vansant team saw in the mothballed building when we came for the interview was this room. It was in rough condition, but there in rural northern New England was a groin vault!
The alumni board had us study the whole house, to see if it was solid enough to save. After a lots of hard work in design and re-building by O'Hara Gercke we were able to keep not just the shell, but the character of this handsome old house.
When our photographer Rob Karosis came to shoot glamor shots in the last week of the project this is the first room he entered. He set up his tripod on the spot, to capture the morning sunlight, and the original groin vault.
