All About Closets LLCThe following set of photos are from a recently customized laundry room. The customer’s laundry room is right next to the kitchen and dining area. The homeowner enjoys spending time with family and friends which results in the need for storing larger sized serving dishes, small appliances, cookware, paper products, linens, brooms, vacuum cleaner and the normal necessities associated with doing laundry.
Her requirements were that everything was hidden behind closed doors, the cabinets would look high end, and all of the space above and around the washer and dryer would be maximized with storage.
After showing the homeowner all of the premier door samples offered by Organizers Direct she immediately fell in love with Premier Antique White. The glazing and trim around the doors matched perfectly with the oiled rubbed bronze hardware she had throughout her home. The quality of the soft close hinges, door construction coupled with my design ideas on making the system strong spanning the machines helped make this an easy decision for the homeowner to move forward.
There were several challenges that were encountered in designing this project. One was making sure the massive 24” deep cabinets were strong enough to handle the weight of the products being installed inside and the other was working around the obstacles normally presented with water, electric and ductwork for the dryers. Fortunately, All About Closets has a close working relationship with Organizers direct to make this customization flawless.

Smith & Vansant Architects PCMoving the washer/dryer out of the kitchen into their own space was not a difficult decision. Meeting all of the programmatic requirements of this new room was a little trickier. Designing enough room to be able to wash the dogs and water houseplants, as well as folding laundry in a small space was solved by providing a removable countertop. When the counter is needed, the two pieces easily slide in place and they are pulled out of the way when the water is needed. When the dogs get a shower, the handspray works best, but for the plants the swing-arm potfiller serves optimally. The client had been saving these 19th century English transferware tiles for just such a project. The mahogany countertop, antique drying rack, windows and built-ins, and exquisite tile work make this a stunning room to do your laundry.

Ariel Bleich DesignThe Laundry room looks out over the back yard with corner windows, dark greenish gray cabinetry, grey hexagon tile floors and a butcerblock countertop.
Drury DesignThis space needed to be redesigned to better improve both the functionality and overall aesthetics of the room. The narrow footprint didn’t inhibit on all that is included in this laundry and mud room! The homeowners received their much-needed overflow pantry storage, ample shoe storage for their growing family, and plenty of room to fold laundry with additional space made for a drying rack and pull out waste/recycle bin.
The final design gives everything a place!
