Is your closet busting at the seams? Or do you perhaps have no closet at all? Time to consider adding a mudroom to your house. Mudrooms are a popular interior design trend these days, and for good reason - they can house far more than a simple coat closet can. They can serve as a family command center for kids' school flyers and menus, for backpacks and shoes, for art supplies and sports equipment. Some mudrooms contain a laundry area, and some contain a mail station. Some mudrooms serve as a home base for a dog or a cat, with easy to clean, low maintenance building materials. A mudroom may consist of custom built-ins, or may simply be a corner of an existing room with pulled some clever, freestanding furniture, hooks, or shelves to house your most essential mudroom items. Whatever your storage needs, extensive or streamlined, carving out a mudroom area can keep the whole family more organized. And, being more organized saves you stress and countless hours that would otherwise be spent searching for misplaced items. While we love to design mudroom niches, a full mudroom interior design allows us to do what we do best here at Down2Earth Interior Design: elevate a space that is primarily driven by pragmatic requirements into a space that is also beautiful to look at and comfortable to occupy. I find myself voluntarily taking phone calls while sitting on the bench of my mudroom, simply because it's a comfortable place to be. My kids do their homework in the mudroom sometimes. My cat loves to curl up on sweatshirts temporarily left on the bench, or cuddle up in boxes on their way out to the recycling bins, just outside the door. While the owners are away the designers will play! This Bellevue craftsman stunner went through a large remodel while its occupants were living in Europe. Almost every room in the home was touched to give it the beautiful update it deserved. A vibrant yellow front door mixed with a few farmhouse touches on the exterior provide a casual yet upscale feel. From the craftsman style millwork seen through out, to the carefully selected finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms, to a dreamy backyard retreat, it is clear from the moment you walk through the door not a design detail was missed. Being a busy family, the clients requested a great room fit for entertaining. A breakfast nook off the kitchen with upholstered chairs and bench cushions provides a cozy corner with a lot of seating - a perfect spot for a "kids" table so the adults can wine and dine in the formal dining room. Pops of blue and yellow brighten the neutral palette and create a playful environment for a sophisticated space. Painted cabinets in the office, floral wallpaper in the powder bathroom, a swing in one of the daughter's rooms, and a hidden cabinet in the pantry only the adults know about are a few of the elements curated to create the customized home my clients were looking for. --- Project designed by interior design studio Kimberlee Marie Interiors. L'ingresso di casa è tutto ciò che un ospite trova appena varcata la soglia del tuo appartamento ed è la prima forma di benvenuto che gli verrà data. Dal semplice zerbino alla stessa porta d'ingresso, ogni singolo elemento è importante nel suscitare un primo impatto positivo in ogni visitatore. Potrai avere le varie stanze della casa arredate con ottimo gusto, ma se l'ingresso e il corridoio soffrono di qualche mancanza, ecco che l'impegno che avrai messo per decorare il tuo appartamento rischia di essere compromesso. Un ingresso con un aspetto gradevole e confortevole accoglierà gli ospiti, che saranno ben felici di ammirare anche il resto della casa. Sarà un toccasana anche per te stesso: il rientro a casa dopo una giornata faticosa è sempre piacevole, ma lo sarà ancora di più con un ingresso ben decorato.

Come arredare un ingresso di casa

Immagina di recarti in casa di un tuo amico: sali le scale e ti trovi di fronte alla porta principale. Anche se sei ancora all'esterno della casa, stai già poggiando i piedi sull'ingresso. Per poter arredare un ingresso con gusto e intelligenza, bisogna quindi aver chiaro che questo piccolo non-luogo della casa può avere due facce diverse: l'esterno e l'interno.

Come decorare l'esterno dell'ingresso

Decorare l'esterno per regalare un bel benvenuto è questione di qualche piccola accortezza. Per prima cosa, assicurati che questo spazio abbia un'illuminazione adeguata. È indifferente durante le ore diurne, ma avrà la sua importanza quando cala il sole. Dotare il vialetto di piccoli faretti segnapasso oppure illuminare la porta d'accesso con una piccola lanterna posta poco sopra di essa, è un primo modo per accogliere gli ospiti. Anche un portaombrelli è un accessorio che non dovrebbe mai mancare: si eviterà così il rischio che gli ospiti portino dentro casa un ombrello bagnato e gocciolante, oppure che lo appoggino direttamente sul legno della porta. Potrai infine abbellire il pianerottolo con una coppia di piante da vaso da posizionare ai due lati, in mezzo alle quali riporre un tappetino. Per completare il quadro, manca l'elemento che più di tutti costituisce l'ingresso alla propria casa: la porta. Scegline una che si sposi bene con lo stile della tua casa, in legno per donare eleganza e raffinatezza oppure in ferro e vetro per uno stile più moderno.

Quali mobili da ingresso scegliere?

Varcata la soglia, ecco che l'ospite si trova finalmente dentro casa. Questa zona, per essere funzionale e accogliente allo stesso tempo, dovrà avere un attaccapanni. Da terra o da parete, questo complemento è essenziale se non vogliamo che i nostri ospiti si aggirino per l'appartamento senza sapere dove appoggiare le proprie giacche. Sarà utile anche per te: l'ultima azione che si compie prima di uscire di casa è indossare la giacca e un appendiabiti è un buon modo per averla a portata di mano. Altri elementi essenziale per praticità e per fare ordine sono una scarpiera, dei ganci e delle mensole per riporre borse e cappelli. In molte case, all'ingresso è presente uno specchio: oltre ad essere utile per gli ultimi ritocchi al look prima di uscire, lo specchio conferisce un tocco elegante e donerà più luminosità all'area. Un mobile da ingresso che non dovrà mancare inoltre è la credenza o un ripiano dove porre un piccolo portaoggetti o svuotatasche per gli oggetti di uso comune, come le chiavi e il portafogli.

Come arredare il corridoio di casa

L'ingresso di casa spesso può coincidere con un corridoio che guiderà l'ospite nelle altre stanze della casa. Scegli quindi un bel tappeto che si sposi con i colori delle pareti e illumina l'androne con un lampadario o una plafoniera posta al centro di esso. Per decorare le pareti potrai affidarti a quadri o stampe particolari, avendo cura che non stonino con lo stile della casa. Quadri con cornici elaborate sono ideali per uno stile di arredo classico, mentre cornici dallo stile minimale sono adatte a un arredo moderno e giovane.
