Fabulous Luxury Kitchen/Family Room Renovation & Expansion - Bethesda Maryland
This original white kitchen was somehow dark and uninviting, even with the white cabinets and floors. There was lack of light due to the galley shape of the room and the absence of windows. Edgemoor Custom Builders in conjunction with Ponte Mellor Architects saw the opportunity to create a space that would include a sun-filled breakfast room helping this dark space become a sun drenched area that screams fun family living and entertaining.
Utilizing the eastern exposure these two rooms had in their favor was paramount in creating a light-filled space. A concept was created that added 2 windows to the existing kitchen, one perched above a new seating area and the other spilling sun directly into the kitchen allowed the light to shine into the space. Along with this natural light, came the need to even the lighting of the space and this was done by installing additional recessed lighting with high efficiency halogen lights.
The Breakfast Room addition was the catalyst for what would become a light and bright section of the residence. This breakfast room was created to embrace all of the natural light possible, all the while lending its own natural light to the kitchen. The result is fabulous inside and out and has turned a once dark and uninvited space into one filled with light from every angle.
