This 3,569-square foot, 3-story new build was part of Dallas's Green Build Program. This minimalist rocker pad boasts beautiful energy efficiency, painted brick, wood beams and serves as the perfect backdrop to Dallas' favorite landmarks near popular attractions, like White Rock Lake and Deep Ellum; a melting pot of art, music, and nature. Walk into this home and you're greeted with industrial accents and minimal Mid-Century Modern flair. Expansive windows flood the open-floor plan living room/dining area in light. The homeowner wanted a pristine space that reflects his love of alternative rock bands. To bring this into his new digs, all the walls were painted white and we added pops of bold colors through custom-framed band posters, paired with velvet accents, vintage-inspired patterns, and jute fabrics. A modern take on hippie style with masculine appeal. A gleaming example of how eclectic-chic living can have a place in your modern abode, showcased by nature, music memorabilia and bluesy hues. The bedroom is a masterpiece of contrast. The dark hued walls contrast with the room's luxurious velvet cognac bed. Fluted mid-century furniture is found alongside metal and wood accents with greenery, which help to create an opulent, welcoming atmosphere for this home. “When people come to my home, the first thing they say is that it looks like a magazine! As nice as it looks, it is inviting and comfortable and we use it. I enjoyed the entire process working with Veronica and her team. I am 100% sure that I will use them again and highly recommend them to anyone." Tucker M., Client Designer: @designwithronnie Architect: @mparkerdesign Photography: @mattigreshaminteriors

Our clients came to us with their vision and an ask to create a timeless family space grounded in their English roots. What resulted was just that: an open and bright English-inspired kitchen featuring custom inset-cabinetry in three painted finishes, aged brass hardware, a large range alcove with built-in shelving, oversized island with plenty of prep space with oversized brass bell pendants and a 12' floor to ceiling pantry. While carefully designed and expertly crafted, the kitchen is "no -fuss" in personality and quite livable for the family which were two must-haves characteristics for the homeowners. To achieve the look and flow, the former posts in the kitchen were removed and two 24' steel beams were installed to support the second floor. All beams, new and old, were sanded down and refinished with a custom stain. We created an opening into the dining room, letting light stream through throughout the day and creating sight lines from room-to-room for this busy family. Modifications were made to the framing of adjacent rooms to allow for the floor-to-ceiling pantry to be installed. New paint, refinished floors, new appliances, and windows were also a part of the overall scope.

Charming French-Country Kitchen
Charming French-Country Kitchen
Drury DesignDrury Design
THE SETUP Imagine how thrilled Diana was when she was approached about designing a kitchen for a client who is an avid traveler and Francophile. ‘French-country’ is a very specific category of traditional design that combines French provincial elegance with rustic comforts. The look draws on soothing hues, antique accents and a wonderful fusion of polished and relic’d finishes. Her client wanted to feel like she was in the south of France every time she walked into her kitchen. She wanted real honed marble counters, vintage finishes and authentic heavy stone walls like you’d find in a 400-year old château in Les Baux-de-Provence. Diana’s mission: capture the client’s vision, design it and utilize Drury Design’s sourcing and building expertise to bring it to life. Design Objectives: Create the feel of an authentic vintage French-country kitchen Include natural materials that would have been used in an old French château Add a second oven Omit an unused desk area in favor of a large, tall pantry armoire THE REMODEL Design Challenges: Finding real stone for the walls, and the craftsmen to install it Accommodate for the thickness of the stones Replicating château beam architecture Replicating authentic French-country finishes Find a spot for a new steam oven Design Solutions: Source and sort true stone. Utilize veteran craftsmen to apply to the walls using old-world techniques Furr out interior window casings to adjust for the thicker stone walls Source true reclaimed beams Utilize veteran craftsmen for authentic finishes and distressing for the island, tall pantry armoire and stucco hood Modify the butler’s pantry base cabinet to accommodate the new steam oven THE RENEWED SPACE Before we started work on her new French-country kitchen, the homeowner told us the kitchen that came with the house was “not my kitchen.” “I felt like a stranger,” she told us during the photoshoot. “It wasn’t my color, it wasn’t my texture. It wasn’t my style… I didn’t have my stamp on it.” And now? “I love the fact that my family can come in here, wrap their arms around it and feel comfortable,” she said. “It’s like a big hug.”

It was a real pleasure to install this solid ash kitchen in this incredible living space. Not only do the wooden beams create a natural symmetry to the room but they also provide a rustic country feel. We used solid ash kitchen doors from our Mornington range painted in Dove grey. Firstly, we felt this was the perfect colour to let the natural wooden features shine through. Secondly, it created a more open feel to the whole living space. Oak worktops and bespoke shelving above the range cooker blend seamlessly with the exposed wooden beams. They bring the whole living space together in a seamless way and create a truly unique kitchen. If you like this solid ash kitchen and would like to find out more about our award-winning kitchens, get in touch or book a free design appointment today.

Where do we even start. We renovated just about this whole home. So much so that we decided to split the video into two parts so you can see each area in a bit more detail. Starting with the Kitchen and living areas, because let’s face it, that is the heart of the home. Taking three very separated spaces, removing, and opening the existing dividing walls, then adding back in the supports for them, created a unified living space that flows so openly it is hard to imagine it any other way. Walking in the front door there was a small entry from the formal living room to the family room, with a protruding wall, we removed the peninsula wall, and widened he entry so you can see right into the family room as soon as you stem into the home. On the far left of that same wall we opened up a large space so that you can access each room easily without walking around an ominous divider. Both openings lead to what once was a small closed off kitchen. Removing the peninsula wall off the kitchen space, and closing off a doorway in the far end of the kitchen allowed for one expansive, beautiful space. Now entertaining the whole family is a very welcoming time for all. The island is an entirely new design for all of us. We designed an L shaped island that offered seating to place the dining table next to. This is such a creative way to offer an island and a formal dinette space for the family. Stacked with drawers and cabinets for storage abound. Both the cabinets and drawers lining the kitchen walls, and inside the island are all shaker style. A simple design with a lot of impact on the space. Doubling up on the drawer pulls when needed gives the area an old world feel inside a now modern space. White painted cabinets and drawers on the outer walls, and espresso stained ones in the island create a dramatic distinction for the accent island. Topping them all with a honed granite in Fantasy Brown, bringing all of the colors and style together. If you are not familiar with honed granite, it has a softer, more matte finish, rather than the glossy finish of polished granite. Yet another way of creating an old world charm to this space. Inside the cabinets we were able to provide so many wonderful storage options. Lower and upper Super Susan’s in the corner cabinets, slide outs in the pantry, a spice roll out next to the cooktop, and a utensil roll out on the other side of the cook top. Accessibility and functionality all in one kitchen. An added bonus was the area we created for upper and lower roll outs next to the oven. A place to neatly store all of the taller bottles and such for your cooking needs. A wonderful, yet small addition to the kitchen. A double, unequal bowl sink in grey with a finish complimenting the honed granite, and color to match the boisterous backsplash. Using the simple colors in the space allowed for a beautiful backsplash full of pattern and intrigue. A true eye catcher in this beautiful home. Moving from the kitchen to the formal living room, and throughout the home, we used a beautiful waterproof laminate that offers the look and feel of real wood, but the functionality of a newer, more durable material. In the formal living room was a fireplace box in place. It blended into the space, but we wanted to create more of the wow factor you have come to expect from us. Building out the shroud around it so that we could wrap the tile around gave a once flat wall, the three dimensional look of a large slab of marble. Now the fireplace, instead of the small, insignificant accent on a large, room blocking wall, sits high and proud in the center of the whole home.

The client came to us to assist with transforming their small family cabin into a year-round residence that would continue the family legacy. The home was originally built by our client’s grandfather so keeping much of the existing interior woodwork and stone masonry fireplace was a must. They did not want to lose the rustic look and the warmth of the pine paneling. The view of Lake Michigan was also to be maintained. It was important to keep the home nestled within its surroundings. There was a need to update the kitchen, add a laundry & mud room, install insulation, add a heating & cooling system, provide additional bedrooms and more bathrooms. The addition to the home needed to look intentional and provide plenty of room for the entire family to be together. Low maintenance exterior finish materials were used for the siding and trims as well as natural field stones at the base to match the original cabin’s charm.

The "Dream of the '90s" was alive in this industrial loft condo before Neil Kelly Portland Design Consultant Erika Altenhofen got her hands on it. The 1910 brick and timber building was converted to condominiums in 1996. No new roof penetrations could be made, so we were tasked with creating a new kitchen in the existing footprint. Erika's design and material selections embrace and enhance the historic architecture, bringing in a warmth that is rare in industrial spaces like these. Among her favorite elements are the beautiful black soapstone counter tops, the RH medieval chandelier, concrete apron-front sink, and Pratt & Larson tile backsplash
