Mill & Woods We had a batch of reclaimed heart pine beams and decking from a textile mill in Lincolnton, NC that had so much character it could not be graded like our other reclaimed heart pine. So we began work on a prefinished color that would do this unique wood justice. Finally, after numerous attempts, we found the perfect color. Now, what do you call a floor with this kind of attitude? After a few beers on a Friday afternoon, the “Old Dirty Goat” was born. Just take a look at this floor and you’ll understand the name.
dRemodelingWith the challenge of not being able to move the appliances, the designer needed to find an appropriate space for seating that didn't disrupt the traffic within the room. In response, the designer extended the counter to create a corner booth seating space in the center of the room. Not only does it provide a comfortable, casual, and friendly seating space, but gives more space to the counter, allowing for accommodation for larger events and meals.

Metropolis Drafting and Construction IncLike most homes that were built as part of a development project in Thousand oaks the kitchen in this home was extremely small and enclosed from all sides with only 2 small pathways leading to it.
The first think on the list was to remove the largest wall and opening the space to the living area.
The kitchen is comprised from an L-shape gray cabinets and a 11' long peninsula from pewter colored cabinet and a fantastic black noir countertop.
The peninsula acts as a division between the living area and the kitchen.
a large window brings a lot of natural light into the space and the light pastel almost colored backsplash adds a light and bright contrast to the grays and black colors of the kitchen.
The large dark cabinet pulls tie together the two portions of the kitchen.

Mi-Kin Creations, Inc.Our challenge was to take a builder grade kitchen and infuse it with elements that combined Traditional cabinetry with Rustic overtones. Because our clients enjoy entertaining, the first step was to enlarge the kitchen. We took down the wall that separated the living room from the kitchen. This simple change enabled us to build an oversize island which serves as both a gathering place for guests and a work space for our client and her daughter, who is an aspiring chef. The island is made from reclaimed heart of pine taken out of a factory in Chicago. The semi-gloss, black lacquer cabinets were distressed to add to the rustic ambience the homeowner desired. We wrapped the micro-lam beam used to support the upper level of the house with the same reclaimed wood used for the island. Using a shot gun, we distressed the beam and hand worked the dovetail joints and walnut pegs creating a barn like post and beam look. The pantry has a charming hand made heart of pine screen door. Chicken wire was used for the screen, adding yet another rustic element to this thoroughly custom kitchen. There are even Urban Industrial overtones with the metal pulls on the cabinetry and the metal accented barstools.
