Accessible Family Kitchen
A fabulous brief to create a kitchen design that worked on several levels, for a family that likes to socialise and eat together in a light and informal setting.
The design needed to accommodate everyone equally. The main user being able bodied does most of the cooking whilst her partner, being wheelchair reliant, also wants feel able to use the kitchen and access all around it easily.
The multi level island was designed with these needs in mind, allowing direct access for her to roll up to without obstruction, and eat a meal with her family or prepare food. Deep pull out drawers, hidden internal drawers and carousel corner units also make getting into cupboards easier for her from a seating position.
