2012 Extreme Home Makeover
During years of hard work as successful company owners, our clients bought land to build a dream home in Colorado. But when the time came, they realized their dream would have to include the friends they’d made in 30 years of life in North Alabama. They were happy in their wooded, hilly neighborhood and decided they’d make their present home the dream home they’d envisioned. Aging in place was a design requirement for the main floor. Bath fixtures and door openings were created to prepare for future access. An open floor plan was a must for family gatherings, friends and bike club get-togethers. In addition, client wanted an inspiring, thought-provoking space to display her own sculptures and paintings and other artists’ work. The interior and exterior spaces are a backdrop to the displayed art and home-centered daily life. Daylight, trussed vaulted ceilings, reclaimed wood floor, decks and unobstructed views to the outdoors create a connection to the nature. The home’s design is perfect for the Colorado dream home now situated in Alabama. Photo credit: James Klotz Photography
