Decorating Home Gym

I just converted my upstairs loft room to a home gym and it is looking very bland and boring. I want to add some color and interest. I want it to look luxurious and nice as it is an open space and right at the top of the stairs. Looking to add wall art, a plant, and maybe a mirror between the mirrors. Let me know what would look good and where in the room. Could the room support some sort of small console table to put waters and towels on

Most important in the space is a matter of scale. If a plant, make it large. If wall art, make it large. I'd make it colorful too as brighter colors say energy. The pictures running up the staircase are small for the space. Yes to a mirror between the windows.

I’d move the stationary bike in front of the right pane of the window on the left with a plant in front of the left pane. Then a large mirror between the windows with a bench in front of it to hold water/towels. If the mat could be trimmed down a bit to fit in the corner on the right, the lifting bench could be placed diagonally on the mat, with a floor plant in the corner and the weight stand centered on the window. This would keep the pathway through the space open and outfit the designated gym space.

Seems like the two closets would give you plenty of towel/water space, even a mini fridge... take a door off........

It appears to be a walk way to an elevated patio? I wouldn't gym it up. Let people think its a stop gap vs a long term solution. What's happening in the family room while you work out?

a me di pancia piace il verde ma voto per evitare il patchwork, che è bello (l'esempio di designforlove lo dimostra) ma secondo me è una tendenza molto sfruttata che ad un certo punto verrà un po' a noia, mentre le maioliche decorate sono più 'evergreen'... io sto facendo una cucina con un concept simile alla tua (contemporanea ma con un tocco country) e credo userò delle maioliche nei toni mastice/antracite). nelle collezioni di madeamano ci sono maioliche belle al punto da commuoversi (komon natura), ma i prezzi, my god...

dgnonni, ecco un esempio di come potrebbe diventare il tuo comodino. Se ami il "DIY"... dopo aver preparato il mobile potrai sbizzarrirti nella decorazione. Puoi utilizzare una tappezzeria, del tessuto o dipingere direttamente sul legno. A lavoro ultimato ti consiglio di dare una mano di vernice trasparente (o resina) per poter pulire il tuo mobiletto senza avere problemi. Io toglierei le "alzatine" nella parte superiore e sostituirei la maniglia con un pomello di ceramica (online ne trovi tantissimi) Guardando l'immagine della camera da letto ti consiglio una fantasia floreale osando con i colori. Avrai due elementi d'arredo molto particolari. Buon lavoro!!!

IMO a mirror is a must in a gym I would however cover much more of the floor with mats maybe even those in a color . You need a place to stetch and do abs. The mat also protects the floor form a dropped weight . Towels are a thing you bring with you and take to the laundry after your work out. A water bottle holder in the closet is a good idea. Do you have a TV on the bike? I like a TV to watch while I am on the treadmill or bike. Maybe a cahir for a friend to visit whie you work out? I would not do too much decor in the space it is a gym .

Yes to the large mirror between the windows. I think you need large area rug or other floor covering to protect the floors in case you drop something. Would a console table fit at the top of the steps, or against the railing?

I’d address functionality first.

Then decide/work around, decor wise.

Keep it simple. Very large painting at the top of the stairs. Window shades in a color that compliments the painting. Mirror in between the windows. That's it. You are done.

It should be large enough to watch your form as you perform exercises. I would go big or go home. 😆

If a mirror is needed to check your form while exercising, the end wall may be a better location for the mirror. Need to figure out equipment/mat placement and where the exerciser can best see him/herself.

I'm missing something, couldn't you convert a bedroom to a home gym instead of having all that stuff in such a large open space? I think it looks terrible. IMO as people like to say!

I assume the only reason for a mirror is to monitor some aspect of your workout, so I'd make it plain and large. Otherwise, all art.

I would love to see a very dark paint color on the double window wall to start. Something to give the illusion of gym.

We might recommend putting a mirror up between the windows, adding some shelves and storage, and perhaps another mat or two. Here are some of the home gyms we have completed for our recent clients.
