Flooring for kitchen, dining room and front room! Help needed

Jay

Hi, I really need some advice on flooring. I am thinking of having an walnut effect for my kitchen worktops, it's quite dark. I know an oak coloured floor wouldn't go, any ideas what I should go for?

Hi Jay, how much will walnut feature? What colour will the cabinets be? And is it explicitly wood flooring that you want? If not, stone, concrete and white/grey tile or tile effect would go with walnut worktops. Some photos for potential inspiration:

Hi thank you for your advice and the photos , all the work surfaces will be a walnut colour and the units will be a very mild cream colour.. I was thinking of a grey colour but was unsure!

Oak is a no as I think you no now :) I also think Walnut on walnut is very dark and unless your room is massive with lots of natural light (or it's a look you love), I would stay away.
So a nice grey, with warm undertones would be perfect! :)

Hi Jay. As the flooring is for all of downstairs I might go for the oak floor and change the worktop.

Hi Jay, we agree that a golden oak could clash with your walnut worktop. But think you could still go for an oak with lighter or ashen tones. The shades below are understated so would be great for flowing through multiple rooms too. And of course, as they're lighter floors they'd help to keep your spaces feeling nice and open. Hope this helps!

    Hi Jay,

A really neutral stone could work well for you - something like our Light Tumbled Travertine or Dijon Limestone. Alternatively, you could have something with a bit more warmth to tie in with the walnut wood - the Egyptian Brushed Limestone for example.

I hope that helps, you can order free samples from our website to help with your decision.

All the best with your project.

I agree with CreatePerfect that a warm grey could work really well.
