We had the JP Hoffman team work with us for a major renovation. From the start, Jason came for the estimate and was far more personable and knowledgeable than others, giving ideas and suggestions (before any work was being done) on how our home could be transformed. The only (minor!) downside was it took a good year of design, planning and preparation, BUT once demo started there was not a single day that someone wasn’t working on our home. Demo to project completion took 5 months for three bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and a deck. Even subcontractors said the JPH team was far more efficient than others they had worked with. In addition to their efficiency and craftsmanship, the entire team was extremely friendly and helpful. We had some difficulties with our yard during a rain storm and without asking, Todd, Mike and Austin came out to lend a helping hand. Such wonderful people, always saying hi, asking how we were doing and answering our many questions quickly and with a smile. We love and greatly appreciate the work the JP Hoffman team did on our home and would highly recommend them for any home renovation project.

JP Hoffman renovated our kitchen, bathroom, and home office this summer and they did a phenomenal job. We have an antique cape with a lot of preexisting “wonkiness” to the floors, walls, and ceilings, but we did not have to worry once during the whole process thanks to the Hoffman team. Everyone knows that having any work done on your home is stressful, but working with the JP Hoffman team made all the difference. Jason, Megan and the entire team worked seamlessly to make our project a success. From our first introduction call, listening to our hopes for the project and our budget. Through the design process, nailing down every detail possible before any work began. All the way through demolition, reconstruction and management of the different trades and subcontractors. With the oversight of Austin as our project manager the job moved smoothly and even finished within the promised timeline. In a project spanning the entire first floor of our home the workmanship speaks loudly. But the smallest detail of our children’s handprints in the cement of the new back stairs (initiated and executed seamless by Todd and Sam) was the surprise icing on the cake. We instantly fell in love with the space that the JP Hoffman team designed and built for us. After years of dreaming what our house could be, the JP Hoffman team helped transform our space into the home of our dreams.

J.P. Hoffman did an incredible job on our kitchen renovation. I could not be more thrilled with our primary bathroom renovation by J.P. Hoffman Design and Build. Beginning with the initial inquiry email exchange with Megan through completion, they paid the highest level of attention to every detail of the project. Megan and Jason spent time understanding our familiarity with large scale renovations (none!), our budget and timeline. Jason met us to discuss the entire process, doing a fantastic job at setting expectations. The J.P. Hoffman contractual & budget process was straightforward and professional, giving us total confidence in what we were contracting for, how much it would cost, where allowances might be needed/expected, when payments were due and what their deliverables were. Megan tapped me into Houzz and we worked together on styles and ideas that I liked. She then provided me with just the right array of choices that were in line with what I had liked and within my budget. When my ideas changed slightly over the project, she jumped right in and actually came with me to appointments to pick out tile and granite. J.P. Hoffman provided a full suite of trusted vendors/suppliers for the job. Each one (plumbing fixtures, tile, granite cabinets, lighting, etc.) were all absolutely top notch. Megan came with me to the suppliers but, when she couldn't, she would provide me with detailed but clear instructions about what I needed to pick. Then, when I got to the supplier, they also had detailed instructions and walked me through every choice. All of the supplies came in on time and were just right. When the inevitable, tiny mistakes occurred (e.g. a chip in the toilet, smudged wallpaper), I didn't have to even think about it, talk to the subcontractor or call the supplier - J.P. Hoffman just took care of it and it wasn't even a blip on my radar. I never had to stress about a single thing during the entire project. The J.P. Hoffman employees (a contractor and a project manager) and the subcontractors were phenomenal. As part of the J.P. Hoffman process, we were assigned our own project manager, Austin. He was professional, knowledgeable, always answered texts and calls quickly, came by the project almost every day, and our dog adored him. This is actually a HUGE selling point for this company - their employees and subcontractors always cared that my pet was safe, didn't leave anything sharp or toxic around, and always stopped to say hello to her before starting work. Their contractor Todd was equally wonderful and a truly expert craftsman. Subcontractors were always on time and professional. My house was left spotless and dust free every day, with all supplies tucked out of sight. The job was finished on schedule, in budget and is stunning. Jason, Megan and the team deliver the highest quality, provide white-glove service and are truly just wonderful people to do business with.

I highly recommend JP Hoffman and the Design Build process! My husband and I bought the house he grew up in, which had a narrow galley kitchen and larger formal dining/living room that went largely unused by our family of 5. We came to Jason thinking we’d need an addition to expand the current kitchen. Jason spent time getting to know us and the pain points of the current layout. After many late-night zoom design sessions (and an “ah-ha” moment by Jason while he was on vacation with his own family) we landed on a layout that far exceeded our expectations, repurposing the current space and avoiding an addition. Meg was also really helpful with guiding me through material selection and my indecisiveness! During the construction process Jason and his team kept a tight schedule and we were well informed every step of the way. I would highly recommend J.P. Hoffman team. My project included three separate spaces in house, master bathroom, downstairs powder room as well as the laundry room. From the design phase to completion, the project went smoothly and the issues that came up during the construction were resolved quickly and efficiently. We have done a number of renovations in the past. Working with the J.P Hoffman Design Build team was the best home reconstruction experience we have ever had. Hired Jay and his team for a complete bathroom renovation.He had many great recommendations that we agreed to .These recommendations enlarged our bathroom by a few sq ft and he reenforced the back shower wall so we can install a seat in the shower when we get older.I purchased shelves and wall fixtures that I was going to install at the end of renovation but Jays employee volunteered to install them for me.We just signed Jay for a full kitchen renovation later this year.

Jason redid my kitchen this past summer. His workers were professional, clean and friendly. The area was neat and clean at the end of each day. His timeline was very helpful. He replaced all the cabinets, lighting, floor and trim work. It was a large project and his timeline was excellent.

We Jason to replace our twenty three year old wooden deck with a new composite deck. The project required restructuring the deck framing and replacing the decking and rails. Jason was helpful in presenting us with color and brand options in different price tiers. He was responsive to questions in a timely manner and presented solutions as different options. He was thoughtful in his design process, provided accurate schules, communicated ideas clearly, and provided current pricing. Also, Jason's team of carpenters were very respectful and competent. We recommend J.P. Hoffman Inc. without the slightest reservation. We had an idea of what we needed to make our bathroom safe for Carolyn who has Parkinson's Disease. We were pleased and surprised by how beautiful the finished project is. Jason has an eye for beauty and he has the skill to create it. He designed and built, from scratch, the sink and medicine cabinets (with mirrors on both the inside and outside, a double-door linen closet with space below ample enough to store all of our household paper goods, and a beautiful walk-in tiled shower (4'x5') with a completely level drain so there is nothing to step over! It works like a charm (no leaks). Then, to top it all off, Jason found space to put in a much-needed closet behind the bath-room for storing off-season clothing, bedding and shoes, as well as a rack for the iron and ironing board. This was a totally unexpected but welcomed improvement! We feel we should add a comment about Jason and his team. They were all a delight to have around--very courteous and respectful of our property. They didn't dilly-dally. Not only did they show up on the days they said they said they would be here, they cleaned and vacuumed the job site before closing up shop each day. JP Hoffman Inc. recently completed a full kitchen remodel in our home. Jason and his team did an outstanding job and we are beyond pleased with the amazing transformation. Jason installed a 10 foot window on the in-law apartment over our garages and re-shingled the entire side of the house. In addition, he added a 2.5' overhang roof running the length of the 3 garage doors and capped it off with a black metal roof, which accented our new black framed window. He also replaced much of the trim on that side of the house. His workmanship was excellent, efficient and timely. He also created a great looking shingle pattern that tied directly into the newly installed triple window. We were not sure what he was going to do with that but he exceeded our expectations. We have received tons of compliments from neighbors and friends. We are very happy to have had Jason (JP Hoffman) finish this part of our home and would use him again in a second. Also would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a talented professional carpenter whom you can trust!!!

We hired Jason and his team to remove a kitchen wall to open up our house. From the first time we met him, we knew we were hiring him. We are not from New England and had never owned an older home. We purchased a 1920s colonial and needed help. Jason's knowledge of older homes as well as his passion to maintain and accentuate the character and charm that these type homes possess is what set him apart. We had a few projects that challenged him to work within the older structure and design of the home while still updating and modernizing it for our current lifestyle. Specifically, he built a second story laundry in a place that this home never intended one to be built. Jason, however, was able to beautifully integrate the design and build of the room to meet our needs and keep the home in it's original, but much improved state. Additionally, Jason replaced some windows and took care of other jobs necessary to update the home, but what we loved most about Jason is he makes your home concerns his. He isn't just in your home to do a job. He genuinely seems to take meeting your needs (and your budget) personally. He works with the care and commitment I suspect he would work as if it were his own home and cost. To say it most simply, we now trust Jason Hoffman to meet our home design and building needs.

J.P. Hoffman provided us with workmanship of the highest quality on time and within budget. Jason Hoffman, the principal of this firm, is exceptionally knowledgeable about all aspects of each component of our project and singularly pleasant to deal with. I fully endorse Jason Hoffman, not only as a contractor but also as a designer. Everyone knows the problems all too frequently associated with contractors working on home renovation projects, but Jason defied those stereotypes. He was courteous and respectful in all his interaction with us, conscientious and dedicated in all his work, creative and insightful in his designs, punctual in his work schedule, and persistent in his problem-solving. He and his apprentice, Jay, both pay great attention to detail, and Jason goes out of his way to be sure the "little things" are taken care of properly. Our project lasted several months, but at the end of each day they cleaned, swept, vacuumed, and put away all tools and machines to help make our living space a bit more "livable" throughout all phases of the project (including demolition). That made a big difference, especially when you have kids living in the house. Our project had lots of challenges, some anticipated, others unforeseen, since the house was original built in Sweden and subsequently relocated to the USA by a previous owner. Perhaps not surprisingly, there were a good many "surprises" once Jason opened the walls and ceilings, as European building techniques sometimes differ. Nevertheless, Jason worked hard to address all these issues in a way that kept us within budget. He understood that our budget was fixed, and there was no room for cost overruns. So sometimes unanticipated snafus meant modifying the design or giving up plans for certain particulars on our wish list, sometimes it meant that Jason gave up some of the profit he had hoped to make from the project. The point is that in each instance, Jason was studiously laid out the options, was honest and upfront about costs, and made every effort to find a compromise solution that accommodated our needs and helped us to fulfill our dreams. The quality of the work was outstanding: truly superb. It was a real pleasure to collaborate with a contractor of such high professional standards, integrity, and character. I recommend Jason Hoffman without reservation.

We had water damage in our finished basement and needed to restore it back to it's original state. He essentially tore down our existing finished basement and rebuilt it from scratch. Here's why Jason Hoffman was an outstanding design professional. Naturally, he could see exactly what the basement looked like prior to demolition. He understood our desire to return our home back to our predamaged state. So, although it may sound simple when we said, "make it look like this", I assure you it was an enormous task. He took care of all the details. Colors, materials, finishes, etc, everything that we needed him to repair, he rebuilt and improved. He understood what we wanted and he completed the work without burdening us with having to remind him what we expected and desired. When doing a huge project like this, we did not want to have to tell a contractor again and again what we expected. Jason worked with us from the start to make sure he knew what we wanted, what we could afford, and how to best meet our needs. What made him amazing is that he offered design solutions to improve the quality and functionality of our space while always respecting our budget and schedule. We'd hire him again in moment. As a matter of fact, we have.

Jason is a very honest, conscientious, dedicated home builder. My project had been one I had been envisioning for 8 years. Jason committed much time to us in the planning phase to understand our needs and budget constraints. He produced design layout options and was very responsive to our questions and concerns throughout the project. Having a house that was built outside of the US, there were many discoveries encountered once walls were removed and Jason was undeterred. He tackled each new discovery as a welcome challenge and was never discouraged nor did these unknowns delay the project. He would thoroughly evaluate what needed to be done and communicated immediately if it required a modification of any kind. Jason is a no nonsense, smart, honest contractor. Scope of work: New 16x16 kitchen that will match existing historic beam work; install 52 windows + interior/exterior trim; install and trim entry doors; side & shingle complete house (less garage); mud room extension/porch addition… We bought our home for its potential and its traditional styling. From the start the original kitchen was too small and we knew we needed to increase the footprint. We needed a major renovation and dreaded the process of selecting and trusting a contractor. The original owners built this home with history in mind when they replicated a home in Deerfield MA from 1814. We didn’t want to hand the keys over to a contractor that didn’t have an appreciation for the historical intention of the home. In fact once we discovered Jason (JP Hoffman Inc.) on HOUZZ, we drove by his home (before meeting) and seeing how he preserved the character when renovating his home, we were sold. Out of all of the quotes we received, Jason’s took the longest to come back and that’s because the time that he puts into the quote yields a realistic number which he will deliver. We did have 2 cost increases in the project, but neither were from JP Hoffman Inc. Jason didn’t spend a penny more than what his quote originally stated and this can be attributed to his diligence in pricing out the work initially. When purchasing our home, we were drawn to the 100 + year old (non-structural) beam work that the original owners added for historic appeal. Jason, in building our 16x16 kitchen addition paid particular attention to that detail and made faux beams that look remarkably close to the original beam work and that tie in so well to the existing beam work that the new construction kitchen looks original to home. We did have an architect draw our plans and that was before meeting/contracting with Jason. In many instances Jason enhanced the project with his creativity and design as well as brought to reality the architect’s intent and it is because of this I am convinced that JP Hoffman Inc. is a 1 stop design and build company. We are very pleased with our decision to work with Jason and very grateful for the results he delivered. We hired Jason to design and build a second floor bathroom for the upstairs of a 1920's house that currently had only a single bathroom downstairs. This project quickly became a renovation of two bedrooms, the upstairs hallway, while adding a full bathroom. We had talked to other contractors and honestly did not think we would be able to add a full bathroom upstairs and keep all three bedrooms. Jason was able to come up with a design that included a full bath, allowed us to keep all three bedrooms, and looks and feels original to the house. Renovations are always tough especially with an older home, but working with Jason was very easy and refreshing. He will work with your budget to make sure you get the best product and services possible. We hired JP Hoffman to remodel our kitchen and laundry room. Our house was built in 1780, and if we hadn't worked with Jason previously and recognized his abilities, we likely would've never attempted the remodel. There were a number of known issues with the space, and many 'unknowns' due to the age of the house. Jason and his team are committed to quality, and worked closely with us to ensure the end result blended seamlessly with the rest of the house. J. P. Hoffman did a total kitchen remodel for us a several years ago. I cannot begin to express our satisfaction or appreciation with the way Jay handled the job. Jay’s skill and expertise were invaluable in every stage of the construction. He was a great help to my wife in choosing just the right cabinets, design and granite countertops. The project was started on time and completed on time. The workmanship was impeccable even when modifications were needed due to some imperfections in our existing structure. Jay and the workmen he employed were always careful and thorough in their daily work and daily cleanup (which was a work of art in itself). I give J. P. We hired J.P. Hoffman to renovate/restore our 1885 farmhouse. It was a huge job, essentially the whole house including new electrical and plumbing. We were looking for someone to keep the character of the old home but bring it up to date. This is exactly what J.P. Hoffman did. He was a pleasure to work with and was always available for our calls when we had questions and he worked with us to include all the features we wanted. When problems arose that were unexpected and not in the estimate he worked with us to make the necessary repair and stay within budget. He paid attention to the little details that most contractors wouldn't, like custom making trim in a new doorway to match the old trim in the room. At then end of the project we were almost exactly in line with the estimate (slightly under) and we got exactly what we wanted. The project did go over the estimated time but that was more an issue with electrical. Also his apprentice was nice, friendly, and did great work. I would recommend J.P. Hoffman to anyone and I look forward to having him work on future renovations.

We recently engaged Jason for remodeling our bathrooms. From the day one he was very professional and courteous. In addition he understood our need to have a functional bathroom quickly. So he went above and beyond to make it happen. Jason is very honest about what is possible / not possible and communicates it to you upfront. If there is something that drives me crazy above everything is paying someone to do work that is not done well or just do a "good enough" job. I had several trades working on my house over the last couple months and Jason was by far the best, I even had a couple of the other guys telling me they were impressed with his work. "He must be good" they said. JP Hoffman installed an 8 foot slider in my living room from a double windows, closed an old door to make more wall for the new kitchen and renovated our bathroom. Everything was precise, square, plumb and clean and when something did not go as planned, they made it right for me. It is what you should get when hiring a contractor, what's why he gets 5 stars.

We had a remodel project at our church facility that was complicated by structural, permitting and insurance issues. Opened up a supporting wall in an antique colonial, while maintaining the original character of the home. He is highly knowledgeable about his trade and specifically older home construction, which is invaluable in understanding how to evaluate the structure and condition of a home prior to doing any work. Between June 2013 and April 2014 Jason completed several small projects for me and I am extremely pleased with all of them. He reconstructed a built-in cabinet in my dining room to accommodate different usage, installed a range hood vent, put in crown molding in another room and lastly, refaced my bathroom cabinets with new doors and hardware. Jason is very knowledgeable and he is particular about doing a job well. The crown molding was a challenge because in my old house the walls are neither plumb nor square but the results were excellent. The paint work on the new cabinet doors looks like a factory finish - perfectly smooth and even. Jason was very open about discussing the pros and cons of different options, making adjustments for budgetary limitations and answering questions. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

I asked Jay to build me a pergola that my wife had picked out of a magazine and had fallen in love with. Jay was able to construct the pergola in a very timely matter and to the exact specifications of my wife who wanted it to replicate what she saw in the magazine. Jay's attention to detail and communication was something we had never experience in a contractor and were taken back by how much he made customer satisfaction a priority. We hired Jason to build a farmer's porch on our colonial and we could be happier with the end result. Jason worked with us to design the porch and it was an easy process from the beginning. I recently purchased a house built in 1955 house and hired J.P. Hoffman Carpentry. The back of my house was demolished to studs; my kitchen went from a narrow u shaped to a lovely galley, my bath was enlarged with a bigger vanity, a handicapped shower and room for a walker or wheelchair to be maneuvered (for future needs) a laundry room between them which includes a whirlpool tub and washer and dryer. Jay also took 4 ft. from the family room to make a hallway, added a back door with dormer and built a 22x12 deck. We had a few extras that needed to be done (new electrical and heating system) so I did go over budget, but Jay made sure it was done economically and with the same quality which is first rate. He listened to my needs and adjustments wanted. He designed a progressive space that I will be able to live in as I age without problems. He listened to my suggestion about changing placement of refrigerator without any argument and saw the benefit. He does quality craftsman work. It will last! We had a few challenges with a couple of sub-contractors but they quickly came back and corrected the situation or I would call Jay and he would be here the next day. I am very satisfied and very happy with my new home.

After seeing Jason Hoffman laying stones for a wall in front of his own historic property, we contacted him to bid on an exterior restoration project at our home. From the onset, he was professional and conscientious and his staff was a friendly, hardworking extension of his company. We were impressed with Jason's innovative ability to merge historic elements with modern efficiency. When our four-square colonial home was built at the start of the 20th century, breathable mesh layers were not available; however, we added one to the restoration and plan to reap the rewards of longevity for the new cedar shingles and overall house structure. Jason also has amazing attention to detail. The removal of multiple layers of shingles revealed that the window sills had been cut to fit the raised shingles. Jason remade the cut pieces, attached them with an epoxy, and finished them into a seamless sill, restoring the original design beautifully. He also was open to our ideas to stay true to the original design of the house. When replacing the gutters, he suggested a circular design that would reproduce the shape of copper gutters, but in an aluminum material. Jason Hoffman remodeled my bathroom and kitchen, in a 1930s colonial home. His attention to detail is exquisite and his taste is great. He did an excellent job, recommended fixtures appropriate to the age of the home, was easy to contact if changes were requested or if there were issues that needed to be addressed. We just completed several home improvement projects with JP Hoffman Inc, and we could not be more pleased with the experience we've had. From the design to completion, Jay and his crew have proved extraordinarily professional, conscientious, helpful and detail-oriented. When we first got in touch with Jay, we wanted to finish our basement and were considering possibly adding a front porch to our home. My husband wanted a portico, I wanted a full farmer's porch, and neither of us could see the others' vision. After talking all of this over with Jay, we were thrilled to receive a rendering of a porch that not only fit both our criteria, but looked exponentially better than anything either of us had imagined. The finished porch is genuinely a work of art! We assumed the basement would be very straightforward, with the end result looking much like any other finished basement in New England, but what we received instead is another living space in our house. As the work progressed, we could see little touches of the details Jay puts into every project he undertakes. Our beams have a beautiful beaded edge that add such a finished look to the space. And instead of leaving our basement sashes as they were, Jay thought to add window casing around each of them, giving them the appearance of a much fuller window. A friend who was visiting yesterday said she wasn't surprised at all that our daughters wanted to play down there all day long since it was one of the warmest, coziest rooms in our house. The last project Jay completed for us was a new mudroom to the entryway from our garage. We'd talked a few times about my frustration with the lack of good space for kids coming in and out of the house, and we were thrilled with the plans Jay drew up for us. Not only do we have the added functionality I've been hoping for, but the room adds such wonderful character to our first floor. Jay took a hallway that did nothing more than serve it's purpose of allowing you to move from the kitchen to the garage, and turned it into a beautiful little room. Almost as important as the actual projects that we contracted for, we found that working with Jay was such a pleasure. When he said he would be at the house at 7:30, he was there at 7:30. Our property at the end of each workday was left in better shape than when he arrived. While the basement was in the early phases, I was surprised at how clean everything looked before they left each night. Any tools, sawdust, debris that was there during the workday was completely cleaned up by the time they left. The driveway was swept and washed down and floors were vacuumed, all a demonstration of the respect I felt Jay had for my home. Another thing we were pleased to find was that our projects were kept to the budget we had set aside for each. We didn't encounter any surprise bills or add-ons, again, a mark of Jay's professionalism and integrity as a small business owner. From the design and build phase through the budgeting and the full completion of all three projects, we could not be more pleased with Jay and his team. In the end and after adding work in a few areas as problems typical of an old house were discovered, we ended up within 5% of our original budget and were able to get even more done than we had originally planned on. We are planning on more renovations over the next few years and will bring Jason in on these as well.

We hired Jason to do a small project in our house to allow for better flow from the kitchen to living room area. The project although small was extremely important to us as new homeowners. Jason cut a large pass-through between our living room and kitchen. This included adjusting a door way and adding trim around both the door and cut out. Jason took time to explain why he thought certain things should be done and what options we had. Jason was a breeze to work with. He went over the plan and contract in detail, and then scheduled the work. He completed the work on time and under budget! He was sensitive to our schedule and kept the space clean. We did a complete remodel including flooring, cabinetry, backsplash and removed a wall to create more flow in our home.
