I recently attempted to purchase a new JEH home, my experience was unsatisfactory to say the least. First off I visited three of their subdivisions and decided on the area in which I would like to purchase. I spoke to the onsite agents thoroughly about what lots would be available and when. After I was provided a list of lots which would be released in roughly a month, I requested to be put on the list for a particular lot which I was told would come available next. About three weeks pass, during which I stop in the office 4 times to confirm that I am on the list, for that particular lot, both Whitney, and Lorie confirmed this. I also expressed every visit which floorplan, elevation, and a floorplan change I wanted. Every time I was given confirmation that everything was good. When the next round of lots were released, I received a call that the lot I had been on the waiting list for a month for actually sold 2 days before I was put on the waiting list. I couldn't believe that as many times as I followed up about that lot, making sure the floorplan I wanted would fit etc, that such a thing could be overlooked. The only explanation I was given was that no one knew how that happened, and there was nothing they could do. I was extremely frustrated, but decided to go ahead with the only available lot they had (after being pressured into making a decision that day). I went there the next day to pay the earnest money and sign the contract, Unfortunately I was rushed to sign, and overlooked that the special request for the floorplan change I have now mentioned 5 times was not in the contract. I noticed this after returning home, so I stop in and speak to Lorie yet again about this change, and she said she would look into it and give me a call, I asked to please let me know as soon as possible. Well as usual, I didn't receive a call back so a few days later when I go in for my design appointment, I ask about the option yet again, and said that I wouldn't pick designs without knowing that the home would be the floorplan I wanted. She obviously ignored my previous visit (like all my visits) and didn't look into it, she then calls her boss and is immediately told no, they cannot do what I have requested and been told they would do since day 1. At this point I was beyond frustrated, and they said they would give me my earnest money back since they have so many people wanting that lot, I then told her I would give it some thought, now a few days later I recieve an email that "the seller has terminated your contract". So after waiting a month, for a lot which was already sold, and settling for another lot when they tell me they can't build the home with an option I have mentioned from the beginning I can't have a couple of days to think about it before they terminate my contract without my involvement?
I've attempted to call the Customer service line at JEH homes with no response, this company is an absolute joke with agents that don't follow up, answer phone calls, or honestly answer questions.
