Mike Gepfert Homes is a General Contracting Firm that specializes in custom residential construction, renovation and alteration projects. Our services include design-build, site plan development, interior design consultation and property management solutions for post-construction care and maintenance of your investment. Waterfront property construction is a specialty. Mike is a 1992 graduate of Ball State University, earning a bachelors degree in Plastics Manufacturing Engineering and CAD design. During college he worked as a CAD designer in the engineering department for Hartford Concrete Products, drafting and detailing above- and below-grade pre-cast concrete structures, molds and tooling to cast the structures, as well as electrical, HVAC and other components to outfit the structures for the burgeoning telecommunications industry. Upon graduation he decided it was time to put his degree to work in the field of plastics manufacturing, and accepted a position as a CAD designer with Fort Wayne Plastics. Mike continued in the plastics industry over the next decade working for two other manufacturing companies and holding numerous positions including engineer, quality control manager, plant manager, director of sales and director of operations. Being a bit of a restless soul who thrives on change, Mike was eager to pursue his college dream of being his own boss, seeing if he could make it as a business owner. Having entered Ball State as a wanna-be architect, and being a woodworking enthusiast and recreational remodeler, construction seemed the natural fit. In late 2003 an opportunity to join a successful custom home builder presented itself, with the ultimate goal of purchasing the company from the owner upon his retirement. That goal was achieved at the end of 2008, and the dream that was years in the making was just beginning. For fun Mike enjoys spending time with family and friends at the lake, boating, skiing and relaxing. He also enjoys attending his kid's many sporting events, and watching college volleyball, football and basketball. When not doing any of the above, he can be found in his woodshop working on a project.
