We hired Yukari Haitani as our interior designer when we purchased an 80-year-old classic Spanish Colonial home that was in dire need of updating. While the house was built in 1935 in the California Spanish style, the previous owners had made the interior into more of a French chateau. We challenged Yukari to transform it into an open, airy, modern Spanish/Mediterranean and she exceeded our expectations. Arched doorways, faux wood beams and stone walls, ornate mantle pieces and trompe l'oeil were all removed. Four very dated bathrooms and a large cook's kitchen were completely gutted and transformed into sleek, modern masterpieces. Yukari is a great partner. While she has an amazing design sensibility, she is super collaborative and careful not to foist her style on others. She spent lots of time with us trying to understand what we wanted so that she could deliver a home that worked for our family. She brought samples over, took us to showrooms and ensured that we reviewed all plans before work began. There were no surprises. Yukari is incredibly detail-oriented, paying attention to everything from bathroom fixtures to kitchen tiles to lighting to closet space. She has a great sense of space and flow and instinctively knows what will and won't work. In the end, a large-scale renovation was done in a record six months. Yukari had a strong relationship with the contractor and managed the construction team carefully. She is extremely conscientious and was very careful not to exceed our budget. In sum, we would strongly recommend Yukari for any design project large or small. Our home is just beautiful and we feel blessed to have found her.

We worked with Yukari on multiple projects on our last home including 2 bathroom re-models and a kitchen face lift. We had such a great experience that we retained her services to undertake a complete re-model/update of our new house when we bought it, which included re-doing 4.5 baths, kitchen, cabinetry, floors, painting, etc. We couldn't be more pleased with the result. Not only did she help bring the project in on-budget and on-time, but people are amazed at the complete transformation she achieved for the budget she had to work with. We have recommended her to several friends who have all been pleased with the results.

We worked with Yukari on a major house remodel and update. She designed our two bathrooms and gave advice on the selection of colors throughout the house. We can't say enough about how happy we were with both the process and end results. Yukari has exquisite taste but did not impose her style on us. She listened to what we wanted, made suggestions, acted as arbiter when we couldn't decide among many options. She paid great attention to detail. The kitchen backsplash tiles were selected by her one by one, and numbered so that the tile man knew where and in which direction each tile was to be laid.
