It was established in 2005 by John Wolstenholme, AIA, LEED AP because there was a need for dependable, timely customer service, where clients are given the personal attention their unique circumstances require. Wolstenholme is comprised of professionals who reflect the firm’s commitment to high quality, sustainable design and client services, complimented by a strong network of consultants in all disciplines of engineering, land planning, surveying, landscape architecture and interior design. We were searching for an architect that could guide us thru the daunting project of a whole house build. We wanted a smaller firm that would give us personal attention, but one with several creative minds who would offer a range of options. We also wanted a firm that was tapped into new products, technology and design styles that would suit our modern aesthetic. Lastly, we wanted the staff to be relatable—not stuffy or pushy. John and teammates checked all our boxes. After several meetings, John and his team honed in on our preferences, and Matt designed a home that incorporated the entirety of our wishlist. Matt was extremely patient and communicative. He worked in a timely manner. Both John and Matt offered ideas to help us cut costs. John has a vast amount of experience. He was always available to answer questions and helpful in guiding us to the right builder. He was a calming presence throughout. Although our home was contemporary, Wolstenholme is adept with many designing many styles. It was also important for us to work with an architectural firm that had existing relationships with area builders, and Wolstenholme has worked with the best. Surprisingly, the final bill for services was far less than anticipated! Though we had entered the experience with a fare amount of stress, the project was actually fun! We highly, HIGHLY recommend Wolstenholme and Associates. Save yourself the “angst” and look no further!

We cannot say enough good things about John and Matt. They were consummate professionals throughout the design process. More than that, they were very pleasant to work with. In addition to being great at what they do, they were also available for any questions and concerns as they arose. We are renovating and adding on to our old farmhouse with various existing additions and John and Matt were so creative in ways to make the final product feel cohesive. They were also conscientious about budget parameters and always had alternative suggestions when a design element did not fit within the budget. We are so excited to see it all come together and know we are in excellent hands with the builder John introduced us to. We would not hesitate to use Wolstenholme Associates again for any future architectural needs.

John, Casey, and the team helped us design an addition to our 1800s stone house. We needed more space for our family so the requirements were a large living/family room, a guest room, and an en suite guest bath. Having never done a project of this size we had no idea what to expect. We didn't have a budget for the addition, we had no idea what a design would cost, we didn't know how it would be incorporated into the existing structure, or if it was even feasible to put an addition on our home as there are some quirky constraints to our location and building. We did know that we liked the work we had seen the group do and after meeting with John to start, we felt comfortable moving forward with them without even meeting with any other architects. The way that Wolstenholme gave us various options and worked with our feedback promptly made the process very easy and fun. Additionally, the way that they structure their professional fees was very considerate and something my wife and I appreciated. We never felt that they were invoicing us unnecessarily and we are thoroughly happy with the value that they provided for the cost.

We choose John and his team to bring our dream home vision to life in early 2020. We had met with several architectural firms and ultimately choose Wolstenholme Associates. They just felt like the right fit for our project and they turned out to be just that. A very approachable group of talented and down to earth people. Great listeners. Very responsive and customer-oriented. Special shout out to Matt, our main contact throughout, who was so patient and fantastic to work with. We recently received our building permits and are getting ready to break ground. Our township building inspector who has a reputation for being a really tough reviewer was extremely impressed with the team stating that “the plans were a pleasure to review and one of the rare few he’s approved first time around”! John and his team were instrumental in getting our 1847 farmhouse reno/addition off the ground after many idle years. They were very attentive to all of our requests and they helped to create a flow to our house for modern living. After several iterations, we were able to maximize the views of our natural setting. In addition, they helped with exterior color selection and key design elements. John, Matt, Casey and his team provided highly detailed plans for our builder, were always available to answer questions with any issues along the way. Additionally, John took extra time to review plans for restructuring a barn foundation on the property. His creativity and experience with barn structures is evident. Because our project was years in the making, we got to know John personally and his kindness and patience is very much appreciated! We are so pleased to have been able to work with John and his team. We highly recommend them and look forward to continuing to work with him.

John and Matt from Wolstenholme are pro's at what they do and are simply good people and were wonderful to work with. They helped design a new 3 car garage with a master bedroom/office addition. A lot of energy and thought went into not only the design, but how it will constructed. They seamlessly integrated with our construction team and other design consultants. I would highly recommend them.

John and his team tackled a much needed redesign of an old addition to our 1850 stone house. We were so happy to work with him and his team. The biggest compliment I can pay to John and company, is that they truly listened to our needs and ideas about the project. He then was able to use his creativity and come up with a great design. Working with them was so easy. They were professional and on time. It can't get any better!

Wolstenholme Associates was recommended to us by our contractor. John Wolstenholme and Matt Wagner designed a beautiful modern farmhouse for us. Having worked with other architects, what stands out to me is their willingness to design and revise to our preferences until we got it exactly like we wanted it. Matt, our primary contact, is one of the most patient and accommodating professionals that I have ever dealt with. John and Casey also continued to work through one of the most difficult periods of time the U.S. has faced since WWII, continuing to deliver on their commitment to our project. The finished architectural product is exacting - we could not have asked for a better result.
