They were very professional when the came to fix our stove, still under warranty. I was a bit leary after reading some of the reviews, but that's who our warranty company sent, so we figured we'd try. He came on time, spent some time on the stove and said that the heating element needed replacing. The parts were ordered and replaced and less than a week later, our stove was working again.

I’ve had an American Home Shield contract on this house for 23years, I believe. On July 6th, AHS assigned ACTIVE APPLIANCE SERVICE INC, to service my Clothes Washer. This is an older machine, and one of the reasons I continue to pay for this contract. The Technician ran thru 2 cycles in an attempt to replicate the horrible noise from the washer. Tech said I had probably “not used” the machine in a while and to keep using, and left the premises. 1 week later, while working in the garage and doing laundry as per the Tech’s instruction, the washer again made a horribly noise and stopped. This time I made a VIDEO RECORDING of the behavior. Called AHS again and had to wait for 8 days for Active Appliance to return. This time the tech opened up the washer and looked at (and showed me) the inside of the machine, and indicated that he would make a report and arrange for parts to come from “somewhere”. He never asked me if I was running large loads of laundry, which as a single person, I am not! Called AHS on 8/11 and was told that, according to the Tech, I had “MISUSED” the washer by “OVERLOADING” and that they would not honor the claim. No repair, no replacement, nothing! Apparently, Active Appliance decided to have the Tech not tell the truth about the service call to eliminate their need to source parts. I don’t know.

Terrible company! DO NOT USE. I do not understand how this company is even in business. They could not care less about helping you. Their supposed supervisor, Ashley, is not interested in helping resolve issues. They lie about when they are coming and never show up. Then they have the audacity not to tell you why they didn't show up. They sent a totally incompetent person to assess the problem with my dryer. My dryer had a burning smell and I told them about that before they decided to send someone via their video call. The person they sent did not have a sense of smell. He had no idea what the problem was and guessed it was the motor. They supposedly ordered a new one and then told me they could not install it for 12 days! Then they screw up and tell my insurance company the repair is complete even though they never installed the motor. It took days for them to understand why that happened although they would never tell me the reason. Then they reschedule me for 1-5. At 5:12 they text me that they are on their way. They are supposed to come within 30 minutes of the text. However, they never show up!!! When I call the next morning to find out why, they tell me they don't know and that they can't schedule me for another 10 days!!! At that point I had more than enough of their lack of service and concern for the customer and proceeded through my insurance company. The insurance company paid me the full price of a new dryer because of the horrific experience I had with Active Appliance and another awful company the insurance company used for my dryer, A & E.

Looks like I'm not the only person on here that's had a horrible experience with this company. They are not only unresponsive and taking way too long to book an appointment, but they give you no clarity on the status of a request or escalate your call should you need to talk to a manager.
Honestly a bit of a scam since I purchased the home warranty from American home shield and then this is the company that they make you use. I felt like the home warranty is a waste of money and I've wasted more time and energy trying to get this appointment then had I just paid full price at another more responsive appliance company.
If you're looking at these reviews I hope these horrible experiences keep you from using this company and if you are subject to use them because you purchased a home warranty then I am sorry for your future troubles.
I don't understand how business is like this are allowed to operate.

Terrible service! The technician from the Van Nuys office did a terrible job of fixing the dish washer. He visited us four times and claimed a different problem every time for the same exact error code. Replaced drain pipe, drain motor, hoses etc., but of no use. The problem came back again in a month.
However, Active appliances declined to serve my request and has demanded to pay $75 for the mess that they created in the first place.
Don't waste your money! Its useless to go with Active Appliances.

what a terrible company they take forever to come out then send 1 guy to try to remove a giant microwave oven combo unit and then they dont have the part and then next service call cannot install the part and asked to check youtube videos for him and then he almost died trying to remove and replace the oven and then another 2 weeks for the part and the company was kind enought to send a helper to their technician that almost collapsed when he had to remove and reinstall the unit. Guess what it broke again and i call for warrenty repair and i informed the rude lady that answers their phone to send out 2 people as it is heavy and she said we cant and i then replied its their employee and sorry that he will be injured doing the repair but they didnt care and had a terrible attiture would not recommend them to my worst enemy horrible

If you want someone to steal your money and not show any empathy when they do and then not help you whatsoever, then you definitely want to go with Active Appliances. One month without working appliances and all they have to say is, 'we're sorry, it happens all the time'. Then they order the wrong part and continue to say, 'it happens all the time' even though the recorded message says they get it right the first time. And their customer service has no empathy or caring whatsoever to the fact you're trying to feed your children out of a ice cooler with rapidly spoiling food. They could not care less and they very much act like it.

THE WORSE most unprofessional group of staff and individuals I've ever had to deal with. Nothing ever gets resolved, they never call you back and they don't fix the issue. American Shield Warranty issued this vendor to fix an appliance at my home and said they would call me to schedule an appt. They never called, so I called them. The person that answers the phone is extremely unprofessional and never seems to get her job done. She kept saying they were reviewing my order, asked to email proof which I did, a few days later always said that same thing, reviewing my order, reviewing my order... 12 days later no callback, no one came to my home, nothing done. I decided to call back and this time I was upset and said, "No I've already sent what I needed what is the hold up" she got upset that I was talking over her and sent me to the manager's voicemail which I left a message. Have I heard back? Reporting them to American Shield. I wasted way too much time and energy on services that I have already paid for.

Stay away from this company. Our warrantee company sent us Active Appliances several times for our dishwasher repair. The first time the repair guy said that even though the machine said there was a leak, he said there wasn't and left. A few weeks later the machine stopped working altogether. Our warrantee company was able to schedule the repair for the next day (unfortunately again with Active Appliances), but towards the end of the day Active Appliances called to tell me that even though their system had said that appointment was available, by the time they got to actually scheduling it on their end it no longer was and I was going to have to wait another 10 days for the next available. Because of the fact that the issue still under Active Appliances 1 month warrantee, I was not able to request a different repair company. So 10 days later we find out that the motor was broken because there was in fact a leak and it had corroded the motor. Another 12 days later (waiting for parts) we had our repair scheduled (finally!). They call the morning of to tell us that although they received the part, some parts inside the box were missing so they were going to have to reschedule again. They didn't think to check the parts upon arrival apparently. Now I have a 50 person party in 2 days and no dishwasher... STAY AWAY from this company! Too many issues on too many levels, it can't be a coincidence, this is clearly a terrible company.

The worst company I've had to deal with, hands down.
Our door handle on our fridge broke off. No big deal, we bought a 3 year extended warranty that covers everything. We call the manufacturer and they set us up with Active Appliances, telling us all is covered. Active calls us and we tell them it's a simple door handle we could fix ourselves, we just need the part mailed out to us. They tell us we HAVE to have a technician come out to do diagnostics. So we allow this, and sign a blank invoice just saying someone came out. They were supposed to call us with updates. Fast forward 2 weeks of waiting to hear back from Active, and all the sudden we get a bill of $110 in the mail demanding payment. They threaten us with legal collection actions.
So I call Active Appliances and they tell me the manufacturer did not cover door handles. Instead of warning us, Active decided they'd order the part anyway AND stuck us with a "diagnostic fee" from when the technician looked and confirmed our door handle was broken. Yeah, we told you it was. So they forced a technician on us, charged us for it, and ordered a part that was not covered without our permission, and now they want to charge a restocking fee. NONE of this was told to us - otherwise we would have told them don't worry about it we'll just glue the handle back on or something.
Shady, shady business. They forced a technician knowing full well we'd owe them $85 (without warning - I didn't even sign for that or anything), they ordered an uncovered part knowing we'd be forced to pay a restocking fee if we rejected paying full-price for it. On top of all this they stacked an additional $25 "billing fee" for mailing out the payment demand letter
I spoke to Rachel at accounting who was less than useless to help us, basically saying "Too bad. Pay up or we'll take legal action." What a shady business. The manufacturer is doing their best to help us out, but Active is not to be trusted.
Stay far, far away! There are plenty of other businesses who will treat customers much better, and actually communicate pricing with you before threatening to sue you over $110 you never agreed to pay.
If we do end up having to pay, you better believe it's going to be in all pennies. I'll be that guy if they're gonna be that company.
Horrible company.

I would give Active Appliances a negative score if possible. They were unprofessional, uncommunicative, absolutely wrong in their diagnosis of my refrigerator’s problems, unresponsive, and in the end, after we had purchased parts (an evaporator panel) and had them installed based on incorrect recommendations, they refused to give us a refund. And, our refrigerator never stop malfunctioning after their servicing. AT one point, they sent a second “senior” technician to review the service and he found much more wrong with the unit. His basic message: I don’t know how the first guy could have missed this.! Yet, even after their own technician came to this conclusion, they refused to give a refund. They were nasty on the phone, inarticulate, and wholly unable to think through the problem or ethics of their behavior. . But wait, it gets worse. The technician charged our home warranty co (American Home Shield - AHS) . for the installation of an ice maker, which never made even one cube of ice. This way, Active Appliances gets paid by the Home Warranty company for the ice maker (which is a covered expense under the warranty) but they never do anything about the serious dysfunction of my refrigerator. 5 weeks later, we are purchasing a new one after losing money on their so-called service, parts, the food in our refrigerator, and for a short time, my sanity. Do not waste your time with these people. Learn from my mistakes. We should have paid attention to the bad reviews but AHS insisted on sending them out. Don’t do it. Read the reviews out there.
