Beware: Michael Anderson is charming, persuasive, and untrustworthy. We had a great initial experience with planning & design ideas, followed by terrible execution. Our home remodel took more than twice as long as promised and the final cost was over twice the initial estimate. Many deadlines were missed, many promises were broken. They appeared to be juggling way too many projects at once. After our project was finally done, we were contacted in person, by phone, and through registered mail (!!) by 3 subcontractors that Waterstone had not paid for their work. We learned many subs will no longer work with Waterstone. Caveat emptor.

A seasoned veteran in the 'old-house' remodel game. Works with professional subs that take pride in their craft and understand the nuances and details of older home construction. Always available via phone or text. Considerate of working families schedules and having homeowners reside in the home during the remodel. The best bit of advice we received on day 1 from Waterstone was: "There will be days no one will be working at the house, you will wonder where everyone is and why nothing is getting done, but trust it is normal and part of the process...the deadlines will be met and you have not been forgotten." Its typical for remodeling, but was reassuring nonetheless.

We love our new kitchen. Michael did an excellent job listening to us as clients and coming up with great design ideas that really met our needs. The project was complete Fall/Winter 2017. We are about 9 months out from having the majority of our first floor refinished by Waterstone and we are loving it. The quality of the work was excellent. They turned our drab 1980s prefab home into something modern and livable.

I hired Waterstone Studio earlier this year to perform a complete rehab remodel of a fixer-upper bungalow I had bought. This included gutting the existing bathroom and kitchen down to the studs and sub-flooring, removing a few dividing walls to improve the flow, and then to build out the attic (which was not considered living space before) with a dormer, a master suite consisting of a bedroom and bathroom, and additional office and storage space. Outdated knob-and-tube wiring had to be replaced and improved. All plumbing is completely new. HVAC also needed to be upgraded and extended into the new living space on the second floor. We replaced all windows and added a few skylights and a patio door opening to a new balcony. Michael Anderson was exceptionally pleasant, productive, creative and responsive to work with. His expertise and guidance was instrumental in making this major renovation an immense success. His architectural vision transformed the blank slate of the empty attic into a stunningly beautiful and yet functional space with vaulted ceilings that is still proportional and cozy. We stayed on budget and only slightly stretched the original time frame due to major change orders such as adding all new exterior siding. Michael himself was always involved and brought his outstanding design aesthetic to the table, helping me realizing my vision of modernizing this 100-year-old house as much as possible without destroying its original character. Michael is always going the extra mile for his clients and one can see his flawless work ethic and commitment. His team and sub-contractors were all professional and quick to rectify the small hiccups of any large undertaking. His lead carpenter Bryan skillfully finished all the trim work, kitchen and other cabinetry installation to my full satisfaction. If you are able to get on their schedule, I cannot recommend Michael Anderson and Waterstone Studio highly enough!

Waterstone brought a creative floor plan solution to our basement laundry/bath remodel and then executed it with attention to budget, quality and service. The project manager provided effective oversight of all the trades and made sure the site was clean at the end of each day. Waterstone went the extra mile when it was discovered after project completion that the major retailer that installed the new washer did not secure the drain line, causing flooding. Waterstone came over to help identify and fix the problem and brought an industrial fan with them! We would hire them again.

Our experience with Waterstone was great. They renovated our kitchen and a small powder room. They were professional, responsive, and respectful and I would highly recommend them.

We had a great experience working with Michael and his team on our full-gut Kitchen/Dining/Laundry and Master Bath remodel. He was incredibly professional and easy to work with. His price was very competitive compared to other bids we received. As with any big project, there were some unforeseen challenges that had the potential to blow both the schedule and the budget. Michael did well mitigating those - he found ways to save costs in order to not go significantly over budget. And while we were over the timeline originally set out, that was largely due to factors beyond their control, and Michael was great at communicating what to expect. Overall, I cannot say enough about the quality of the work. Michael and his team have incredibly high attention to detail. We had another contractor working on another project in our home and you could see a difference in the quality of work - Waterstone's was perfection. Michael was also incredibly helpful in the design phase of the project, giving us lots of new ideas of what we could do to maximize our space that we hadn't even thought of. I highly recommend Waterstone! We are in love with our new kitchen & bathroom. They meet our needs perfectly.

I am a structural engineer and developed a relationship with Waterstone Studio because they were a client of ours. Since I was able to see first-hand how competent they were and how beautiful their results were, I asked them to renovate my home. We have a small home, but Michael was able to think creatively to efficiently use the space we had available without increasing our footprint. Waterstone is my first call whenever I want to make an improvement to my home, and they are the only residential contractor I feel comfortable referring my clients to.

After relocating into the area and purchasing our new house, we hired Waterstone to design and build an addition that required blending existing and new exterior and interior finishes of a mid-Century ranch. We were very happy with the creativity, the process and the execution of the project, which -- although it was not our intent -- turned our house into the showcase for the neighborhood. We especially appreciated Waterstone's attention to detail, knowledge and shared commitment to achieving both practical living space and a period-consistent aesthetic. Exactly how one would wish design AND build to work!

We hired Waterstone to do a complete kitchen remodel and a bump out in our 1898 Queen Anne home. There were all kinds of design challenges here as we wanted to keep the architectural integrity of the house while at the same time end up with a modern high-end kitchen. Michael did a marvelous job. Easy to work with, full of creative ideas and the job was done on the schedule as promised. We are now two years into the kitchen, love it and get all kinds of complements from neighbors and friends. Waterstone does terrific work!
