Chi siamo

Since 1996, Studio Momentum Architects has been producing innovative, idiosyncratic, modern architecture. We focus on sustainable, residential and small scale commercial projects with time split between new construction and renovations. Many of our projects have been shown on local tours, and featured in publications. All of our projects are rated with the Austin Energy Green Building Program. The Shoal Creek and Hilwin Circle Residences have achieved 5 stars through the use of geo-thermal heat pumps, solar PV arrays, rainwater collection, local materials and re-used materials. These projects included a focus on indoor air quality and construction waste management. We engage the client in a design process through careful listening, site analysis, and "problem definition" to best meet their goals and hopes. With our experience, a skilled set of contractor affiliates, and a determined client, a truly unique work of art can be realized.

Extremely professional and knowledgeable. Travis brings a great deal of passion to his work resulting in high quality finished projects. He was able to meet both the deadline and budget agreed upon even on my relatively small job. His estimates of costs, time and headaches were precise, accurate, and well explained. He had a vision for my home and investment that became a reality. His work has lasting value to me and my family.

Working with Travis at Studio Momentum was any homeowner's dream come true. Travis was our architect AND builder! He was easy to communicate with, always professional, and a pleasure to work with but the true bonus for my husband and I was his vision and artistic side. We are literally living in our dream house! Travis took all of our ideas and desires and made them functional and beautiful. Even after the build, he continued to go above and beyond with the services he provided. We highly recommend working with Travis for new builds, remodels, new additions, for both indoor and outdoor projects!

Our homeowners, met with several architects before they chose Travis Young with Studio Momentum in Austin Texas. As a team, our owners, Travis Young and Joel Katz of Katz Builders worked together to not only develop the design, but to create a home that could stand the test of time and met the criteria of a high performing energy efficient home. Travis listened to our owners needs and ideas and developed a design that is creative and married form and function together . Travis' knowledge of the building requirements of the City of Austin, along with his forward thinking made him the right architect for our clients home. The home received a Five Star Rating from Austin Energy, and was featured in the Cool House Tour. We highly recommend Travis and Studio Momentum and look forward to our next opportunity to work together.

We hired Studio Momentum to do an extensive remodel of our existing 1950's home. They did an exceptional job and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Travis Young, the primary architect, was very knowledgeable not only about beautiful modern design but also about construction and more practical aspects of building. This helped a lot during the process. He was also very professional, timely and well priced. His design aesthetic was well honed to include not only ideas from mid-century modern style, but also his own completely new and creative thoughts. He thought consciously about how the spaces in the home were used and how the home was situated on the lot. All of this resulted in a gorgeous home (winning 5 stars from Austin energy).

Travis has been wonderful to work with on our project to turn a 50's style ranch house into a modern home. He captured our vision from the start and helped us perfect it. He is always ready to listen to our ideas (both good and bad!), was patient with us when we struggled on making decisions on certain aspects of the Project, he is flexible and approachable, and makes himself readily available for questions and concerns. His designs are creative, unique, interesting, and insightful. He remains a great sounding board on all aspects of the Project. We value and respect his opinions and have enjoyed the process of renovating our home with him.

Our living room was a 70s vintage dark cave add-on to our 1950s house. Travis redesigned it completely plus added a screened in porch. The new space has a ton of light, it is modern with many unique touches. It reflects our personality and taste perfectly. It is comfortable and flows well with the rest of the house which still has the original look.

Travis Young with Studio Momentum in Austin Texas is a very talented architect with exciting vision. He listened to ideas and creatively translated them into form that was both exciting and intuitive. Travis' knowledge of the building requirements of the City of Austin, coupled with his forward thinking about green building made him the ideal architect for my work. I highly recommend Travis and Studio Momentum for design and architecture work.

Ha commentato: Where did you buy the bar brackets?They are made of stock trim materials. 1x finger jointed pine and painted. Fabricated by the trim carpenter on site.

Ha commentato: How is the wear and tear of Paralam?.Hello, the paralam wear very well. Smaller and thinner pieces of wood chips sometimes pop up, or flake off, however, a small amount of sanding and new clear coat in the area usually takes care of it...

Ha commentato: What type of wood flooring is in this photo?The flooring is long leaf pine. It was the original floor. We put a stain on it to even things out.

Ha commentato: Are the wall tiles grouted? Is the door waterproof?Yes, the tile is grouted, and the door is an aluminum door, fully sealed and painted with an epoxy paint to make it water proof.
