Robert Ransom and his company built our family a beautiful home. While there were several hiccups during the Covid years, Robert followed through on everything promised and made sure every last detail was addressed. Since we contracted with the Ransom Company before construction began, we were offered many selections for the interior including floors, appliances, tiles, cabinets, plumbing, and lighting... The Ransom Company works with high quality, professional vendors who went out of their way to help us make selections especially during a time when most companies had their doors closed because of Covid. We were also delighted to work with Robert's foreman and crew. They worked hard, showed up on time, were responsive to our needs, and produced good, quality work. Robert also works with an excellent architect, Steve Kulinski, who we would highly recommend. Overall, we are very happy with our new home.

We built a new home with the Ransom company and moved into the home in September 2023. Robert was actively involved in every aspect of the project from the moment we bought the lot until the day we moved in and beyond. It was a massive undertaking involving extensive site work, coordination with the state, the county and the neighbors, extensive landscaping on the outside, and interior design with custom paint colors and wallpaper on the inside. Robert coordinated it all, and the end result is well constructed, beautiful, comfortable in every possible way dream home. I feel our chimney provides the best example of the kind of care Robert takes with every project. We would have been happy with a plain old boring chimney, but Robert felt that architecturally we needed more detail. He worked with the architect and a mason to design it, found a way to make it affordable, and gave us this beautiful old world architectural detail that adds so much to the exterior of our home. This is just one of the many reasons we would use Robert again. Now months later, the home is finished and he's still incredibly responsive to the small details of our finished home. If the kitchen faucet drips, he sends a plumber. He is responsible, detail oriented, honest and goes the extra mile every time to make his clients happy. As a final testimonial, people frequently drive by and take pictures of our home. A couple people have even knocked on the door to ask if we are interested in selling. The answer is an emphatic no, but we always recommend they call Robert to build an equally beautiful home of their own :-)

My wife and I worked with Robert to build our home from the ground up. We found Robert to communicate proactively throughout the process, demonstrate a genuine interest in helping us to achieve our goals, and delivered a finished product that exceeded our expectations. The Ransom Company was great to work with and we would highly recommend them. We worked with them on a new construction, and from design to finish Robert and his team were easy to work with, forthcoming and professional. Robert was very communicative from day 1, providing us with detailed emails and updates (even when unfortunately there were unforeseen delays out of his control). He kept us in the loop during every phase of construction, and we did not once feel as though that status of the project. Robert has a keen design eye and was able to provide practical suggestions for first time home builders. He also gave us more choices and input that a regular builder might provide regarding smaller, immaterial items that other contractors might cut corners on. Since completion, Robert has made himself readily available for any minor issues or questions that have arisen, and has been quick to take care of any issues. We have also used the Ransom Company's subs for miscellaneous projects post completion, and have found them trustworthy and reliable. We would definitely recommend The Ransom Company to others, no matter the size of the project. It would be tough finding another contractor who is more trustful and open.

The Ransom Company offered 1st class, professional service from the beginning to the end-- I hired the Ransom Company to do a complete renovation of my DC Penn Quarter condominium. The President of the company was hands-on-- Robert shared solid design advice to best utilize the space while creating a perfectly beautiful home. The Ransom team is clean (as possible during construction), trustworthy and thorough in their work. The Ransom Company delivers top-quality results. I offer them my highest recommendation.

My wife and I just wrapped up our second major piece of work with the Ransom Company -- a complete kitchen renovation. Robert and his team were great to work with from start to finish. Rather than condescend our budget, like some other contractors, Robert worked with us to make sure we got an awesome kitchen without breaking the bank. He respected all of our design ideas while offering some brilliant insights about how to optimize our space and layout. And he led us through the minefield of vendors and service providers to help us get exactly the kitchen we wanted.I also can't say enough about the professionalism of their on-site team. The quality of the workmanship speaks for itself, but they were prompt and hardworking every day, flexible to nosy clients asking questions and making design tweaks, and the left the project site clean at the end of each day.And the final product is stunning. Our kitchen came with a few design challenges, which required Robert to come up with clever custom solutions, but the final product is truly one-of-a-kind. In short, we enthusiastically recommend working with Robert and his team. They're professionals, they're problem-solvers, and they'll be our first call for any future piece of work.

When we bought our house 2 years ago, Robert and The Ransom Company did a great job on some needed updates. The work was top notch and on time/budget. It was the reason we decided to use them again when we went to sell. With busy work schedules and three young children, the thought of preparing our house for the market was daunting. That’s the short answer, now here's the long one: My wife and I decided on Robert after not getting the time of day from other contractors based on our young age or modest budge, or both. Despite these factors, Robert seemed excited about the project (even though he admitted that Mid Century Modern was not in his comfort zone – I’d guess it is now, though!) and was one of the only contractors to spend time on an actual design plan, instead of just a ballpark estimate. My wife had a lot of ideas in terms of the functionality of the new kitchen, but as this was our first major renovation project, we were inexperienced with the process of selecting the fit and finishes that would match the unique style of our home. Through his consultation visits and trips to his various suppliers, Robert was able to improve on the functionality ideas we had, but also design a space that would be modern, but also age well with the home. His knowledge of how the layout should flow for functionality was superb, but his design skills allowed us to spend more money on what’s important, instead of a high-priced designer. Our kitchen was ripped back to the studs and subflooring, a project which featured new everything, from electrical, plumbing, painting, to custom fabrication – everything. If it matters when your life is in this much upheaval, the work was done cleanly and his team is trustworthy to work in your home while you aren't there. Despite the typical hiccups that any major renovation will experience (and a few that HGTV tossed in our direction), the entire project, from demo to completion took only 27 days – three days early. Hire this company in order to work with a knowledgeable team that will do quality work and deliver it on time.

The Ransom Company was fantastic from start to finish. My husband and I hired Robert and his team to do a complete renovation of the first floor of our colonial home, specifically the dining room, office/den, kitchen, and family room. Robert immediately displayed his talents with regards to design, reworking the entire layout to make it more open and family friendly. Not only was the quality of his work stellar (my father is a contractor himself in a different state, and remarked about the excellent quality upon completion), but he went above and beyond to please my family and me, accommodating my daughters' schedules and working with us to accommodate our budget. And he and his team were always professional and easy to work with. We never felt uncomfortable talking to him and asserting our opinions. The Ransom Company renovated two bathrooms in our 1860s townhouse. Exceptionally small spaces and quirky structural elements made this a rather challenging job. Robert Ransom and his team did wonderful work. Robert is highly competent: organized, thorough, knowledgeable, and hardworking. He is also personable, communicative, and responsive, all of which make him a pleasure to work with. Robert was hands on throughout the entire remodel process. He meticulously organized and collaborated every step of the way, from planning and design, to selections and purchases, to decision-making as issues arose. The Ransom Company takes great pride in its work and was perfectly willing to make revisions to attain the desired outcome. The results are outstanding.
