Robert is excellent, his design was outstanding and he was open to our thoughts and needs and made sure they were accommodated in the design. At the same time he pushed back gently against some of ideas where they would have clashed which is exactly what we needed. The end result is amazing and we are so pleased with our garden. Super professional plus really friendly and a nice person to work with. We would 100% recommend Rob.

Right from our first meeting in 2018 we knew we had found the right designer for us. Rob is friendly, easy to talk to, and an extremely talented and creative designer. He produced a variety of designs and images for our garden, and there was no end to his ideas! The attention to detail, level of work and thought he puts into the design process and detailed drawings is incredible. Rob has designed and overseen the construction of my small but now perfectly formed garden! I moved into a new build property and specifically chose to leave the garden bare so that it was a blank canvas, no grass, no paving, just some rubble and lots of weeds! Rob listened attentively to me and quickly grasped my vision - something with very low maintenance, minimalistic, calming and maximising space to have friends and family over to sit outside and enjoy each other’s company. We are so pleased to have chosen Robert Hughes Garden Design (Cheshire) to design and oversee a transformation of our side garden. The difficult challenge in our case was to achieve a quality split level contemporary design on an awkward shaped site. Rob's design not only met our brief 100% but thereafter, with various minor amendments, continued to surpass it. Apart from his exceptional design skills and friendly personality, Rob also has the benefit of past 'hands on' practical experience, and this really showed in his project management and our discussions on fine detail. I contacted Rob in a bit of a panic when work on my extension had just started as the builder was insisting I told him what design I was having outside as he had to build up the patio. Rob visited my house within days and not long after came up with a couple of designs. We played around with them and too the best aspects of both to come up with a design that I love. Rob then helped to source materials, always have more than one option.....I always picked the most expensive one!! He was very friendly and amiable and very easy to work with. He monitored the work that was undertaken and was an excellent go between between me and the contractors. His attention to detail was excellent. My back garden looks stunning with 2 patios and a fabulous water feature and the front garden and driveway have greatly improved the first impression of my house. I could not be happier with how everything looks and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rob....you won’t be disappointed!

We contacted Rob to design our medium-sized suburban garden. From the very first contact, Rob was personable, professional and extremely responsive. He worked with us to come up with a few different designs, incorporating all our ideas, helping us refine the design and arranging for a trusted landscaping company to cost the work. The design Rob came up with was absolutely stunning, so far beyond anything we could have come up with! We used Rob’s project monitoring service too which was again excellent and good value. It took so much of the hassle out of the project and meant we only had one person to deal with, rather than co-ordinating lots of different contractors. It definitely paid for itself as Rob managed to deal with any issues as they came up, preventing any rework and ensuring the finished result was top quality. The garden has been completed just in time for spring - we are already enjoying it so much, we are thrilled with the end result and how well the project went. Rob was a pleasure to work with and I couldn’t recommend his services highly enough.

After initially finding Robs details on line we first met back in May 2019. After explaining our requirements over the phone Rob visit us to discuss in detail what our thoughts were, had a look around the site and ascertained a budget we had in mind. Rob went away and produced two designs, we liked both of them but picked the best bits from each to arrive out our final choice. Works on site have been slow (through no fault of Rob) but we are delighted they way things are looking and photos will be added to this site in due course.

After extending our house we were looking for someone to design an outside space that would compliment the new build. We were delighted with Rob from the outset as he understood immediately what we needed and had some fantastic ideas which he brought to life through drawings and mood boards. We would never have dreamt of the designs without his input. It was a very easy process working with Rob to finalise design. Rob was also great in helping us to identify local landscapers who could complete the work and we were happy to go with his recommendation. Rob then project managed the work which gave us peace of mind that everything would be completed to his exacting standards. He kept us updated but any little issues were usually rectified before we were even aware. We are so delighted with the final garden space which has really added a wow factor to our home. We would have no hesitation in recommending Rob.

Rob designed and project managed the garden design at our self build home, the garden being the last part of the project. The site was fairly small, rocks and rubble and on an elevation with a substation on the boundary so was definitely a challenge!! Rob managed to create a design that not only married with but enhanced the building. The outside flows seamlessly into the inside and we now have a beautiful garden area that’s not only amazing to look at but is functional and practical. We can’t thank him enough for his work. He’s been brilliant to work with every step Of the way and had a vision that we could not have realised or achieved with out him. We discovered Rob online when searching for a garden design company and the gallery of his past work immediately resonated with us. We wanted a contemporary yet classical-looking garden. This isn’t always a balance that’s easy to achieve. The plot was L-shaped (a corner plot) overlooking the countryside on a new-build development. Rob’s initial drawings provided us with some fantastic ideas (including some very creative lighting) which, together, we shaped and tweaked until we had the garden we wanted. The quality of his design and the drawings he produced was excellent. He also spent lots of time with us, working on the design and discussing small changes – and then more time choosing the right materials to bring his design alive. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Work was completed in May 2018 and, as we write this a few months later in October, we can only tell you how delighted we are to have spent a beautiful summer enjoying our new garden. We highly recommend Rob.

I can’t recomemd Rob highly enough. He Designed and project managed the renovation of our garden, Giving us plenty of options along the way. He obtained a detailed survey from us, to be able to provide a garden that we couldn’t be happier with. Rob goes the extra mile, nothing was to much trouble. He is still involved in the garden now as it develops and takes great pride in his work. Rob is really easy to get along with and dealt with any issues with the landscapers in a direct and timely manor!
