Rice completely mislead me with respect to its ability to complete my small project in a timely and acceptable manner. They delayed my project at the critical inception juncture leading to me losing the contractors I had scheduled to help me with the job - which to excuse their delays they then labeled "handymen" as apparently a way to blame the problems on the "handymen" rather than the delays. Those delays, and specifying unique roofing systems, have lead to a series of foreseeable consequences which we continue to grapple with even today. I would highly recommend getting a written time commitment and the written estimate of costs and expenses should be relied on way more than the verbal one... and, what ever problems happen, they will be yours, never theirs. Mark Akins is top-notch. His vision and attention to design details, large and small, are evident throughout our home. Our project evolved into a renovation of most of our house, inside and out...even driveway and walkways. I greatly appreciated how Mark guided me through the selection process, endured endless questions, problem-solved and fine-tuned in the field with the contractor/subs. He took great pride in our project from start to finish, and it shows! We love the end result.

Mark Akins of Rice Architect, LLC was the complete professional. The project was the addition of an en suite bedroom over an existing garage. The challenge was a seamless integration of the new space into the existing structure, appearing as if it was part of the home's original design. Through every phase of the project Mark took time to answer every question and request always making sure all of our concerns were addressed. The final plans passed a strict Architectural Review Board (ARB) approval process made possible due to Mark's ability to balance and consider his client's expectations against ARB requirements. The final result was exactly what we wanted. We are well on our way through construction looking forward to enjoying our beautiful new room.

Mark Akins with Rice Architect, LLC, developed construction plans for the enlargement of the church lobby and the addition of a new covered entryway to the main church building. His ability to take our dream and put it on paper was superb, fueled in large part by his ability to listen and his knowledge of what would and what would not work. We found our relationship with him and the firm to be a pleasant and rewarding experience. We look forward to enjoying the fruits of his labor very soon.

Very professional and responsive. This is an experienced architect who demonstrated excellent knowledge and skill in his field. The work was complete on time. The project was somewhat complicated with many angles and levels. All of this was mastered well. The owner, Randy Rice, is very personable and a pleasure to work with. Randy and his staff are consummate professionals. They are customer focused, ready to listen and respond to their clients needs. They do not deliver "cookie cutter" projects. I have been involved in numerous projects over the last few years, and already have a major beach renovation scheduled for 2018 with a Rice Architect design . I find their designs to be innovative, and very personalized, very easy to work with and their customers are very happy with the final outcome.

When we first met Randy Rice, we asked him to design a casual, comfortable home with energy efficient features. During the design process, Randy included an open area with vaulted ceilings for the kitchen, living room and dining room areas; a cupola above the living room; four AC zones throughout the home; foam insulation under the roof top; LED lights throughout, and other energy efficient features. We have lived in our home for over four years and have enjoyed each room designed and built with its specific purpose, the outlay of the home, unique ceilings and numerous added features. During these four years, we have noticed that we use our air conditioning in the main living area of the home for only a few of the hottest summer weeks. The cupola and vaulted ceiling above the living area and next to the kitchen and dining areas have allowed heat to rise, which allows us on most days to live comfortably without the use of air conditioning. Randy was great to work with from the beginning of the design process until the home was completed. His experience, professionalism, and patience showed throughout the entire process. We highly recommend Rice Architect.

I was very impressed with the timely manner in which these plans were delivered. Furthermore, the plans were competitively priced and there were few defects. In addition to, Rice and Associates demonstrated a high capacity of imagination! Lastly, any potential client could except this firm to be accommodating and communicative!

Randy was great to work with. He listened to my ideas, shared his ideas and incorporated them into the drawings for every meeting. It was a very collaborative working experience. He sent us three contractors to interview and we were very impressed with each one. He solved problems of an old house and helped transform it from a duplex into an extremely comfortable, cozy and modern beach haven! We love it and couldn't be happier!

We took the plans and made the house more contemporary and energy efficient with Randy's expertise. We wanted a low maintenance beach home. Randy guided us through the many options.
