Really great experience to work with Alex. His team are the best in their respective crafts and the backyard is exactly the way we hoped it would turn out. He was wonderful about handholding us through the process of choosing material and design. Alex was in high demand and had multiple projects running concurrently. No matter how busy he was, he ALWAYS found time to answer any questions we had during the project. We always felt important to him. I’m happy we chose his firm to work with and would recommend to any of my close friends and neighbors. I’m writing this review one year later. The backyard has grown in and looks even better than when it was completed. Thank you Alex.

Alex helped us to design a full front yard remodel for our home in Nellie Gail. From conception, to design, to demolition, build and finally planting and finishing touches, he was a partner with us. Alex is excellent at communicating and has impeccable taste. We truly valued his opinion as we made decisions along the way of our project. He listened to our desires and helped guide us through each stage of our project. When we ran into hiccups along the way, he was up front with us about the situation and gave reasonable suggestions for moving forward. His crews were dependable and highly skilled. We enjoyed and looked forward to seeing them every day and our territorial dogs looked forward to watching them work every day. Our HOA is infamous for being strict and denying many submissions which require several back/forths. However, our submission was accepted on the first design which Alex attended on our behalf. We updated our entire front yard which included adding a gated courtyard, artificial turf, entryway, driveway, planting walls and adding a new gated entry to our backyard. With Alex’s help, we not only updated the curb appeal of our home but maximized the space. We highly recommend OC West to all of our friends and neighbors and our new front yard is a testament in itself to the design and quality of work. We can only hope that we’re able to find such a wonderful partner in all our home projects.

I worked with Alex a couple of months ago on my backyard project. First of all, I'm extremely happy with the outcome/work performed by OC West. Along the way, Alex was very patient(since I've never done this before) and thorough explaining what I should know and to expect regarding the project. Alex did an amazing job on our backyard. Right from the initial design planning till the completion of the project he was always accessible, addressed all our queries and concerns in a very timely manner. We were extremely happy with our interaction with Alex and his entire team during this project. His initial budgeting for the project was spot on and he finished the entire project within the initially quoted budget even though we increased the height of our waterfall midway through the project (but he did not increase the price for the waterfall). He was also very helpful and patient when we were selecting the tiles, color combinations, plants etc during the entire project. We are very happy with Alex and his entire team. Our backyard now looks very beautiful, just the way we wanted it. We have received a lot of positive compliments from friends and family, about how great our backyard looks. They are the absolute best in what they’re doing. The staff are super nice and asks you each step of the way if everything done how you like it or not. They are super responsive. Couldn’t ask for a better company to do my backyard.

We recently completed our Landscape remodel and we are 110% pleased with the final outcome. Alex at OC West Landscape did an amazing job managing our project from start to finish. Not only is he polite and professional but he came as often as needed to oversee progress and checked on any possible developments as our job progressed. 5 stars for OC West Landscape! Alex Karim's designs and collaboration with us was seamless and outstanding. The modern design and drought resistant plant choices not only make our home a show stopper ( people drive by slowly admiring the home ) but also very low maintenance. My husband and I often say to ourselves, 'We get to live here!' Can't say enough good things about OC West Landscape and its professionalism, knowledge, and care.

Alex is a pleasure to work with. He is extremely professional and understood our needs for our landscape design. He took into account our likes and dislikes and offered great advise. He met with us on many occasions in choosing materials and selecting plants. He also worked directly with our HOA in getting our plans approved. Alex and his associates did such a superb job with our landscaping. Alex quickly understood what we wanted and implemented a fantastic design which captured the modern look we were looking for. I was reading reviews like the one I'm posting now when I was researching for landscapers approx 5-6 months ago. I purchased a new home that needed front and back landscaping. It was a very stressful process. I heard horror stories with landscapers not completing projects on time, poor workmanship, changing prices without any justifications, not honoring their contract, etc... After interviewing around 5 companies I decided to meet with alex from oc west having come across a great review I read about him online. Alex was easy to talk to and very accessible. We responds the same day or the next day max. My wife and I decided to go with alex and are very happy with the outcome of our project. He is meticulous and genuinely cares about his work. After our project was completed, there were some minor issues with the lighting which alex fixed right away. I feel very comfortable that I have alex to take care of me after our project was completed. You want a company that will support you afterwards and oc west is that company. I would recommend alex to my friends and family.

Alex and his team at OC West were top notch from design through construction. He took our goals of what we wanted in a back yard then added his vision to it to come up with what we feel is perfect for us. We purchased a home that was built in 2006 with a front yard and back yard that looked like it was constructed back in the 1980’s (built by prior owner), so we consulted with several landscape architects around OC to help us design and rebuild our outdoor amenities to upgrade the curb appeal of our house, as well as modernize our backyard. Alex and the team at OC West were extremely professional and great to work with, throughout the entire design, build and landscaping process. We initially engaged several groups to come up with designs for our front yard and back yard, and asked Alex to revise a design that we didn’t like from another studio. What impressed us was that Alex really took time to listen to our ideas and understand how we wanted the front yard and back yard to function for our family before he came up with an intuitive and forward thinking design concept. Before implementing his ideas, Alex had several in person consultations with us to discuss cost, timing and scope of work in each phase of the design build process, so we remained in constant communication with the OC west construction teams and had control over the execution plan. The construction teams that Alex works with are all extremely professional, courteous and worked well around our daily routines of living in our home while construction work was ongoing. We sincerely appreciate Alex and the team at OC West for helping us build out our place of refuge where we can spend quality time connecting with family and friends. Alex’s trustworthiness, integrity and thoughtfulness definitely translated into a very high-level workmanship & quality of work that rivals world-class boutique hotels and luxury residences that can be found in West LA & South County OC.

We met with several landscape architectural firms before we settled on OC West. Our selection wasn’t based on pricing, or glossy marketing materials, or a polished sales pitch. We chose OC West because after spending time with Alex Karim, we were confident that he would translate our basic requirements and our dreams into the perfect backyard. And we were right. Alex didn’t try and sell us on already developed cookie-cutter designs. Instead he took the time to ask questions, take us to see other yards – including ones designed by other firms – so he would get a sense of our style. Through the entire process from design to construction, we were a part of the team. Every decision was thoughtfully discussed including design elements, placement, and material selection. The construction crew was excellent – polite, conscientious and professional. And we could tell they took great pride in their work. Lastly, when the job was done, they didn’t disappear. They remain accessible and responsive. We highly recommend OC West without reservation.

Was down the road with a landscape architect that we were having some some issues with. Contacted OC West to do an alternate set of plans as a contingency plan. Alex was very responsive and helpful in coming up with a set of plans in fairly short order that was within our budget. Communication was excellent and although the original architect eventually got the original plans done, we ended up using Alex's plans for the project.

We used OC West Landscape and they were outstanding! I was very nervous about completely redoing the landscape surrounding my house, but Alex proved not only to be a perfectionist, but also very knowledgeable, and patient. He listened to what I wanted, proposed great ideas, and made adjustments as needed to fit within my budget. His team handles everything from beginning to end and they are all top notch professionals! Alex is a true professional. From our first meeting to the finished project Alex and his team were consistent in making sure the backyard project was being done in a timely manner and done to perfection. We hired Alex's OC West to design and construct our Hidden Canyon home landscape last Spring. The overall experience was great. Alex is a great designer. Everything he put together for us is very high quality and beautiful. We were away from home a lot during the summer, but that was not a problem at all. His project crew did a great job to make his design a reality. Also, there was no hidden cost and everything is done very professionally. We are very happy to have selected Alex's firm to be our landscape contractor.

This review is for Alex and his team at OC West Landscaping who completed the front and backyard landscaping on our new construction home. We couldn’t have been happier with the results. We had previously gone through the painstaking process of landscaping a new construction home about 3 years ago prior to moving to this current home. From our previous experiences, we had learned quite a bit about the entire design and construction process. So this time around, we were much more informed and specific about what we were looking for. We interviewed several landscapers and Alex clearly stood out. We liked that he comes from an architecture background which made his designs much more unique and less generic. He has a great design aesthetic which is so important in eventually getting the look you want. We also really liked that his company offers the full breadth of construction services which means the work was always done by Alex’s employees under his direct oversight instead of having a bunch of sub-contractors doing separate parts of the job such as the sprinklers, lighting, stonework, tiling, softscape, electrical, etc.. That is what happened with our previous house and unfortunately a lot gets lost in the translation, mistakes get made, and the quality of work suffers due to lack of communication between the different subs. Throughout the process, we felt at ease because Alex’s guys were so professional and courteous. They took really great care of our home from start to finish. Alex was on-site daily managing and coordinating the workflow. He was a great communicator and always available and responsive to text, emails, and calls. I felt that his knowledge of materials, design aesthetic, and the construction process was well-above his peers. His crew benefits from his expertise because he has such low turnover and works with the same guys over and over so they know exactly how he likes things to be done. Alex is very picky and particular about getting things right and was always there to ensure highest quality. He was also great about giving us different choices and samples for paint colors, tiles, stone, wood, etc. But he would not give us too many choices to overwhelm us and would give helpful advice if we had difficulty making a choice. His prices were very fair. His contract agreement was very detailed and we ended up paying the exact amount we had negotiated. The only additional charges we incurred were for upgrades to more premium materials that we chose to make later on. He fully stands by the quality of his work. Now over 6 months after job completion, Alex still checks in on us from time to time. In fact, he has recently come to fix some minor cracks that resulted from my over-watering of the plants. The finished landscape looks fantastic and has totally transformed our home. Our backyard is now so functional, relaxing, and beautiful. Our family uses it almost everyday. When people come to visit, they head straight for the backyard, both adults and children, because it is such a draw. The results have exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful to Alex and his team for their amazing work.

Highly recommend OC West Landscape. They did a great job on my specially designed front yard with rocks and desert plants and paving stones in the backyard. They were on time and always responsive to my questions. Even after one year Alex still answers my queries promptly.

OC West built a beautiful landscape around my house. From design to picking material and final construction, the owner Alex has been very professional and friendly. I noticed that many houses have the same boiler plate landscape. OC West however came up with a unique design that matches the architecture of our house and our taste.

Alex and OC West were fantastic. I just had a new home built in Laguna Beach and they did all the stone work that wraps around the front of my home as well as the landscaping and installation of artificial grass for my pups. Our house is the color "watery" by Sherwin Williams and Alex found me a beautiful natural stone with very subtle accents in watery green blue that ties in with my beach cottage home perfectly. He was professional and while his pricing was not the 'cheapest' it was very fair and the quality of the work, stone and his personal attentiveness were of great value and worth every penny. Additionally he was very accommodating of my need for super smelly roses and pretty pretty hydrangeas!!

OC West shared my vision of a clean modern design and quality construction for my small space. Alex gained my trust from our very first meeting as he is respectful yet honest. Although pricier than other quotes received, I knew that Alex would take care of me. Alex and his company are based off of developing a lasting relationship and it really showed throughout the project. His attention to detail and quality of work provides me with a peace of mind that things were completed correctly the first time. The blueprints by his designer provided me a good idea of what the space would eventually look like. Everything was very professionally presented and cleanly printed with colored ink. The materials chosen fit exactly what I had in mind, I didn’t have to dwell on hundreds of material choices. If I did not see what I liked, Alex was more than happy to research further and get back to me. Andres, the foreman, and his crew, left my place clean and tidy after a days work. Andres was also great at recognizing the need to consult Alex, who in turn would reach out to me. The project felt like a collaboration, as everyone was easily approachable. I was updated along the entirety of the construction process. We hit a few snags as expected with any project (where to place gas line, adding a wall/planter, plant condition from nursery, leaking irrigation lines, slow drainage, burnt bulb, water fountain pump issues, chipped tiles) but the attitude of addressing the issue was professional, prompt, and quick – very quick. From the design phase to completion, Alex was involved and I couldn’t be happier. Would gladly work with OC West Landscaping again!

OC West has all you'd expect in a quality landscape company: timely responses to inquiries, a personal and friendly feel, and brilliant design ideas! We interviewed several landscaper designers and chose OC West in part because of how well Alex understood our "vision" and how intelligent and kind he was when our vision needed a nudge. For example, we wanted to use repurposed wood around the bbq island. Alex was the only designer that gently guided us toward understanding that in order for the space to have a unified and connected feel, we should use repurposed wood in other parts of the yard to "tie it together".
