We built a home on a small lake in NW MT and the process was seamless and fun. MDI handled both the design and build phases of our project. Most impressive was MDI's attention to detail, commitment to quality, and clear communication. We ended up with a quality home that is exactly what we wanted with no detail left out. Marty and the team at Mindful Designs in Whitefish are extremely skilled professionals. My wife and I interviewed several contractors in the Flathead Valley and they were all good, but Mindful really stood out as the most knowledgeable, after the 6+ hour interview. We have had many experiences with home building / remodeling in a number of US states and have never, really been satisfied with an outcome, until now. For our home on Little Bitterroot Lake, west of Kalispell, we had very high standards and expectations set when considering our contractor, some of which included; 1) Strong engineering and ecological (green) expertise, 2) Extremely good communication skills, 3) 100% "Can do" attitude with 0% compromising when it comes to quality of build, materials, final product and functionality, 4) Full accountability for schedule, project scope and "tracking to the timeline," and 5) Finishing the project on or under budget. Marty and his team (and just as important, the sub-contractors with which they have close relationships) exceeded our expectations on all criteria. From the beginning of our process of building a custom home with Mindful Designs, Marty and his team have been great to work with. The tools and knowledge they have to build a budget allowed us to review, amend and stay on budget throughout the entire process. Through every decision we felt as we were being heard and our best interests were always met. The quality of construction, healthy living environment and energy efficiency were second to none! Folks say that building a house is one of the most stressful things you can do. Our experience with Mindful Designs was quite the opposite. We felt from the beginning that the guys had our best interests at heart and would work with us to make it right. They have a passion for efficient and innovative design and really enjoy their work. We chose Mindful Designs for the construction of a new residential home. We so blessed as them because, at that time, they were the company most experienced in and dedicated to sustainable building. They took our design plan and created building plans, obtained the necessary permits, and managed the build from start to finish. They were on time and on budget. We were very impressed with their sustainable building practices (from ensuring ideal indoor air quality all the way to recycling and minimizing construction waste) and their ability to mix re-claimed and new building materials to build a new home with wonderful character that looks like the oldest in the neighborhood. We used Mindful Designs to help us build our dream house on a pretty remarkable piece of property. They were very conscious of our goals, budget and desires and helped us incorporate our ideas (as well as many other great ideas) into our home. It turned out better than we could have ever imagined...the house performs beautifully in terms of efficiency and ergonomically fits our lifestyle. A great amount of detail and oversight went into the project from the very beginning and all of their subs were also great to work with. Mindful Designs built a beautiful high end home on a Lake for us. The lot ended up having issues that we were not aware of when we hired them, but they creatively resolved problems as they arose. They did a superb job on the home and continued to work on any issues that arose until we were satisfied. .

When we decided to pull the trigger on a remodel in our home, we already knew who we wanted for the project. Marty and his partners at Mindful Designs have a standout reputation for thoughtful, honest, excellent work. Our experience confirms that reputation. We have a very busy house, and I was dreading the interruption of a remodel, but we actually enjoyed the process, and we continue to enjoy the end result. MDI took us through a very detail oriented planning phase, so that when the work began all of the materials and sub contractors were scheduled and in place. The project started on time and ended as schedule, and the final cost was as budgeted. Through out the planning and building stages, the communication was excellent. If Marty even thinks there is potential for misunderstanding on some point he will reconcile each party to ensure that everyone is on the same page. I really appreciated that effort. The projected consisted of changing the aesthetic of our main living space and included removing an outside wall to build a large, stone fire center that efficiently heats the upper living space. We love it. I just put up 3 cords of good wood for the season. We have asked them to put us on their schedule for next year to do additional work. Thanks

The folks at Mindful helped bring our dreams alive. When choosing contractors, my husband wanted to go with the cheapest bid, but I wanted to go with Mindful because I liked these guys. Then our banker agreed that he'd never seen them go over budget and we'd had so many friends who had gone with the cheapest bid, but then, at the end, had shelled out a lot more than budgeted (and ended up with poor quality). By then I had toured several of their houses, seen the kind of work and had no doubts. Mindful were (and continue to be) there when you need them. Even for the smallest question. We had the worst of weather to work through, but that did not slow them down. Every piece fell into place as if by magic (though I know it was Mindful's careful planning) and every detail was attended to. Our house is energy efficient and tight as a drum (with a great system that recirculates fresh air). In the end we finished ahead of schedule and under budget. Best of all, our house is fantastically beautiful. I would highly recommend these guys for any building project, from new construction to remodel. They continue to impress me in ways I've not seen on other construction projects. Every piece of this house is the very best it can be and the quality is apparent to all who come to visit.
