I have known and worked with Yasmin Shariff for many - originally when she was a partner with her late husband Dennis Sharpe and also through our involvement with the RIBA during bothof my terms as RIBA President. More recently working with her as she is now the principal of Dennis Sharpe Architects and our close involvement when she was the RIBA Hon. Secretary and I was back on the RIBA Council. She is a very talented dedicated architect with many years experience. She commits herself totally to any appointment she undertakes and at all times is very professional in the way she conducts herself at at all times. She has been responsible for the design and construction management of new buildings, conversion of and extensions, and alterations to to existing buildings including private houses. She is also experienced in dealing wit listed buildings and conservation areas. Yasmin assisted me in the detail issues and contract management in the construction of an extension to my house in Laugharne South Wales I had designed which was recently completed. Yasmin Shariff of Dennis Sharp Architects, recently acted for us on a complete refurbishment of our 1970s house. This involved initial consultation on design, site visits, preparation of drawings and a 3D visual model. Yasmin was also instrumental in advising on windows, finishes and sanitary fittings as well as obtaining Planners no Consent and Building Regulations Approval. Yasmine Shariff from Dennis Sharp Architects brought my dream to life.. a cirlcuar Studio to practice my Dance, and Yoga . Listening to my passion for aethestics of form and love of nature , she created a beautiful simple design bringing together an equal balance of nature and modernity .. the strawbale stucture nestles into the natural woodland landscape where I live , with a high crown of windows and monopitch roof, harmonizing the earth and air elements ..Her practical experiance of keeping to a very small budget . ....has made it possible for me to continue my journey of teaching Yoga and Dance in a very unique Studio space ! Rear extension and reconfiguration of the ground floor. DSA created a great design which included a layout that we would not have thought of and which works brilliantly for the family. Our own ideas and requirements were thoughtfully accommodated into the final design. Externally the fascia feature DSA designed is great and we are really pleased with it. They suggested a number of other design touches which together make a real difference to the overall feel and look of the property. DSA's help with contractor selection also meant we had a good builder who has completed the works to a high standard. Happy to recommend.

Ms Shariff is a serious, highly professional architect. She has the ability to see how buildings might be transformed through exciting ideas, which are practical and suited to the pockets of her clients. She commands the respect of builders and other professionals with whom she works well. She keeps a close watch on the progress of projects to ensure they meet deadlines and are in line with budgets. The final outcomes are often even better than envisaged. She has overseen two projects for me in the past fifteen years: 1. To design a garden room to compliment a listed 1930s Modern Movement house, and to remodel a downstairs cloakroom as a shower room and toilet . 2. To redesign the downstairs space in a 1970s house, giving a large modern kitchen, dining and sitting room, plus ingeniously adding an ensuite to one bedroom and remodelling the existing family bath room upstairs. DSA is a highly professional firm, responsive and thoughtful to deal with. A pleasure to work with this architectural practice on our renovations of a 16th century cottage, and modernising a Victorian terrace house.

Yasmin Shariff designed and oversaw the contract for renovation of an old Methodist Chapel in Lincolnshire. The original conversion had divided the chapel into four units. I procured Yasmin's professional help to join two of the units together, making a six-bedroom dwelling with spacious open plan ground floor living. Yasmin listened to my aspirations for the building then produced and modified designs that were contemporary whilst being sympathetic to the heritage of the chapel. She has made the most of natural elements such as light and ventilation. Eye to detail and timescales, coupled with her wide experience, resulted in Yasmin drawing up a stunning design that pushed the boundaries of what I thought was possible. Equally, the project was manageable within budget and now provides a quality of lifestyle and comfort. The thoroughness of her work meant that the build phase of the project went without hitch. I am truly delighted with the finished outcome.
