J. Carsten Remodeling is owned by Jason Myrlie. From start to finish, Jason doesn’t hesitate to take on the unique challenges and quirks of each client’s home. As an analytical planner, he thrives on immersing himself in the details of every project. In addition to his expertise, Jason surrounds himself with a team of outstanding professional craftspeople. On projects big or small, the J. Carsten team prides itself on being industry leaders, which has resulted in multiple NARI exceptional design and service awards- including 2 awards in November 2018. In fact, Jason was named President of Minnesota’s NARI chapter in 2017 and is the 2019 BATC Housing First Remodeler's Committee Chair. On a personal note, Jason has 2 daughters, Lauren & Hanna, a cat and a chocolate lab named Stella. He has been home-brewing since 2001) and especially enjoys hoppy IPAs. He also enjoys woodworking and Gopher Hockey. We love our kitchen and main level remodel provided by Jason and his team at J. Carsten Remodeling. Jason brought our 1993 kitchen and main level up to date and provided us with more usable space and storage without changing the square footage. We initially hoped to remodel our kitchen in 2020. Illness in the extended family and a full house during the pandemic put those plans on hold. In 2022, we renewed our efforts, but needed to find a different contractor. A series of somewhat serendipitous referrals led us to Jason at J. Carsten Remodeling and we are so glad they did! Jason is knowledgeable, dedicated, and pleasant to work with. His attention to detail is unsurpassed. Jason kept the project on time, provided his own labor when necessary, and found new subcontractors on short notice when subs ran into conflicts. Jason is also patient. He did not miss a beat when one of our designers changed the layout and required Jason to do extra work a few days before the project was set to begin. We highly recommend J. Carsten Remodeling and would work with them again. In fact, a few months after the kitchen and main level remodel, Jason replaced our deck.

I hired Jason to finish my basement in early 2022 based on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. The project included adding a large great room with a stone fireplace and bar area, a full bathroom, workout room and storage spaces. Jason provided detailed bid options at the front end of the project that were easy to understand and follow. He also brainstormed ideas with me to get the project within my budget. Jason was responsive when I had questions along the way. All the workmanship was top notch and done in a timely manner, which was important because I was working from home at the time. My kids and I are enjoying the space immensely and would definitely recommend working with J. Carsten Remodeling.

Jason put a wet bar in my basement in 2022. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of his work, his consistent updates on the progress and adhering to his planned schedule. Jason and Carsten Remodeling are awesome. We can't praise them enough. It would really be hard for anyone to beat this contractor. Honest, Reliable, On-time, at Budget. If any problems, (and ours were minor), Jason corrected them immediately. NO HORROR stories here. You can bank on that. As I usually do, I had an attorney review the contractor's contract. A total waste of time and money by me. Jason is a "throwback" contractor in his honesty and integrity. You really could do everything with a "handshake". BTW: he remodeled our master bathroom, master closet, installed granite counter top in upstairs bathroom, painted and carpeted the entire second floor. Basically, our upstairs is back to new. He cleaned up everyday, used plastic to wall off work areas, laid runners on floors, etc etc, etc. There was as little interruption as possible for such a big job. WELL DONE. Call him! High quality! Jason gutted my shower and updated my condo lighting and circuit breaker box. I am extremely pleased with everything. He used high quality products. All the work was done while I was at work and the workers were all trustworthy and treated my home like theirs. Everything was cleaned before they left every day. The work was done on schedule and Jason was very professional and in constant contact with me. I highly recommend J Carsten Remodeling.

We had our kitchen remodel done in the middle of winter. This in itself created some unique issues, but the one thing that never wavered was Jason's firm commitment to keep us more than satisfied. That he did! We are very pleased with the results which are a combination of his overall designs and our own personal tastes. We met Jason at the Remodelers Showcase. We were very impressed with his work and invited him to our home to see whether he would be able to remodel our guest bedroom and bath, raise the previous sunken living room, and install hard wood floors in the bedroom, dining room and living room. He provided us with a detailed plan and time estimate. The project was complete in a little over a month. The people with whom he contracted were punctual and professional. We could not be happier with the final results.
