I became acquainted with Melissa and her company related to a project through my work. Her manor and demeanor made it a breeze to quickly establish a rapport and it seemed like in no time she locked into our needs, balancing budget considerations with the look and feel we hoped to attain. The outcome was entirely a success. Fast forward a year when my husband and I embarked on the journey of building a home. We’ve owned several homes and tackled some minor renovation projects, but the experience building a home from the ground up was daunting. My husband and I are on the same page 99% of the time, but facing what seemed like a million design and material selections? Not so much. Oh, and our new construction project was a couple of states away leaving all the finish decisions packed into 2.5 days. We hoped for the best with the builder’s designer, but without knowing the process – and feeling like we were going to need a little hand holding to meld our sometimes diverse tastes – we were concerned. Enter Melissa. We sought out Melissa for a consultation prior to our design meetings with our builder to ask her advice with some of our initial thoughts and to gain her perspective on the best use of our budget. We settled into her stylish and comfortable design center and beautiful store, Poor House, and something amazing happened. She offered to join us on our trek out of state for all the materials selection meetings. Predictably, it was an exhilarating, exhausting, exciting, difficult task. Melissa was there every step of the way helping us navigate each of the decisions, and sometimes even arbitrating between us, to create a cohesive design that somehow matches both of our tastes perfectly. She expertly guided us through the process plus, under these unique circumstances, developed a collaborative relationship with the builder’s representative that resulted in a team approach to providing the greatest aesthetic and functional impact all the while managing our budget. We would not hesitate to recommend Melissa for a project of any size or complexity.
