Haines Phillips Architects are an experienced, RIBA Chartered Practice based in Central London, a short walking distance from King’s Cross St. Pancras. On projects within the high-end residential sector and for private clients, we can offer a full in-house architectural and interior design service tailored to suit the requirements of the client and project. This includes concept design and planning applications for new buildings, building refurbishments and extensions. We also provide detail interior design for bathrooms and kitchens, joinery and cabinetry, the selection of finishes and fittings alongside internal furniture layouts and conceptual lighting layouts. We have a high profile in the residential sector within central London generally and in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster in particular. Our work includes considerable experience of the particular challenges of listed buildings and working within conservation areas. Residential development makes up the majority of our portfolio, which also includes commercial, mixed use and arts and culture projects. Our work within these sectors includes Conservation and Heritage projects, some of which are Heritage Lottery funded.

We asked Haines Phillips to design something within a fixed moderately large budget that would help transform our home into something that was well designed and future proofed as our young family grew older into adulthood. What they produced was not only amazing from a design perspective but also financially affordable. The new kitchen/ living area has transformed the way we live as a family. They designed the space so that while being open plan still allowed for different zones giving the feeling of comfort and privacy. They also helped us take a huge leap into design that we could never have imagined, leaving us with a double height space that takes your breath away. In order for this to happen both Mike and Maha were patient and supportive providing us with very clear design briefs and 3D computer designs along the way. This included lighting and electric plans which we would never have considered so well worth the investment as they quite literally make the space. They were professional at every step and this included all the planning meetings with professionals as well as neighbours. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others and would definitely instruct them again on any future projects.

Margaret Gallagher

Maha Phillips came up with an ingenious design to completely blur the lines between outside and inside space in a kitchen extension. A clever use of glass and tiling has brought the kitchen and garden space together in a way to enable us to have the benefit of the garden all year round. As well as designing the space, Maha managed the project from beginning through to completion.

I have worked with Haines Phillips on a number of residential projects both as a co-professional in my capacity as an interior designer, and also as a client. As a Practice they have that rare ability to combine both interesting architecture and design with great practicality. I instructed them on a development for 6 new flats above a commercial space which they have taken from the design and planning stages and through to the project management and administration of the contract. They are very well versed in the increasingly complex rules and regulations involved in this kind of work; they are quick and responsive and deal with everything in a professional manner and are very easy to work with. They are able to cover the full spectrum of architectural services, with each of the partners having different expertise and skills. We have worked with Haines Phillips Architects for a number of years and each project we have ‘built’ with them has not only been a pleasure to carry out, but have all been extremely successful. This award winning practice does much work in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, as we do, and both companies specialise in high end residential property. Their planning, creativity, and attention to detail is second to none. Their brief and instructions are meticulous, allowing us to provide an excellent job with no hiccups!
