We are so very happy with our experience working with Sarah during the renovation of our home in New Hampshire. A consummate professional, Sarah guided us through a constant stream of decisions - doorknobs, paint colors, window treatments, lighting fixtures, etc... with an eye for budget and overall design plan. When we felt overwhelmed or were about to make a possible mistake ( a too big sofa or the wrong color window treatments), Sarah stepped in and gently nudged us in the right direction. She respected our desire to incorporate family "treasures" into our overall goal of creating a more modern, fresh ambiance. The outcome is a home that is an elegant combination old and new, warm and welcoming. I give her my strongest recommendation.

We cannot give enough praise for Chapin Interiors. They are professional, creative, practical, resourceful and comparably reasonable. Our large historic Dutch Colonial home burned down in August in 2016. We knew we wanted to restore it, but we had no idea of the enormity of the job to do so. Our contractor recommended Chapin Interiors. We are very glad he did! I have struggled to work with decorators before because I know what I want and that can sometimes be difficult. Sarah and Gina were different--they really listened. With Sarah Chapin's help, the restored house feels like the house we loved before it was destroyed. The stress of doing a huge renovation was overwhelming with literally thousands of decisions to be made from structural design to plumbing fixtures, tile and counter materials, fabrics, carpets and flooring, light fixtures and lamps, window treatments, and replacement and new furniture to be upholstered and selected. Sarah and Gina's sense of design, knowledge, and attention to and management of all the details, was incredibly helpful. They would show me options of several ideas to see what I liked and then present me with solutions that were in line with my taste and budget. We have seven bathrooms-there were so many faucets and tiles to select and pick out it was confusing, but these professionals led me right through the process. We also have seven bedrooms, most of which needed wallpapers, along with most of the bathrooms. These and the chintz and floral fabrics for a period home are not what are in style today and were hard to find, but with Chapin's numerous sources they were able to so, so that the home looks remarkably like the one we loved--and in many cases even better! Likewise, the Baker Lawson style classic sofas for the living room and library were no longer offered anywhere. Chapin Interiors found someone to custom make them at less than market price. In the almost three years we have worked together our relationship has been smooth, professional, and friendly. Sarah and Gina are very easy to work with and made a challenging job enjoyable. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

It was a joy working with Sarah on our recently purchased & redecorated house on Lake Sunapee. The house lacked curb appeal & basic charm when we purchased it, but under Sarah’s thoughtful direction it now feels warm, inviting, & unique. She has a gift for turning a house into a home, one that reflects the owners’ taste. I was overwhelmed with the project when it began, but Sarah’s guidance & imagination made the entire task seem easy! She has an “eye” for turning the ho-hum into “wow!” As we live in Fairfield County & she in Westchester, we were able to meet on a regular basis to select replacement plumbing fixtures, doorknobs, floor tiles, wood floor finishes, kitchen cupboards, etc. When decisions were to be made on paints & furniture coverings, Sarah always presented a carefully researched range of fabrics plus coordinating fabrics & paints for my selection. It would have taken me YEARS to do the same thing on my own! Sarah was able to work efficiently with the contractors, who appreciated her ideas. And, while she manages the big picture beautifully, she also is a master of detail. She knew that our finished house would be bursting with family: college students, teenagers, & dogs. And she kept that important thought in mind throughout the project. I cannot recommend Chapin Interiors highly enough.

Sarah Chapin has an exquisite design sensibility, and she is remarkably easy to work with. Sarah collaborated so well with everyone on the team - including the architect and contractors - with professionalism and care. Though I was guided by Sarah, my house feels totally my own. She is meticulous - every detail was attended to, considered and approached with sensitivity and artistry. She sourced unique materials (tiles, lighting, etc.), so that my home contains unusual elements that are perfectly suited to it. Sarah and I worked together for over two years, and I can't recommend her highly enough.

Chapin Interiors is a wonderful full service Design firm. Sarah Chapin's smooth, tailored aesthetic always has a nod to nature. She and her team create beautifully quiet interiors that are timeless and although the palette is often subtle and materials often similar, the results are beautifully customized to each location. I have often turned to Sarah to collaborate on my own client projects. Since we have different styles it's inspiring to see how she might complete a picture. I highly recommend her aesthetic and her firm. I am both a friend and colleague, I know what it takes, and Sarah takes her client's through all the steps smoothly with sublime results!

My husband and I hired an architect and contractor to build a second home in the woods of NH. The architect suggested we use Sarah for paint colors and a few other decisions. Having done multiple renovations and new construction myself, I intended to make most decisions myself. As the project is almost complete, almost 2 years later, I am so thankful that we hired Sarah. Not only was the project overwhelming in decisions, it was easy to be bogged down in small details. Location was never a problem – I am in MA, Sarah in NY and the architect and new house are in NH. We all met at least once a month on site and used email and phone when necessary. Sarah’s communication with the architects was prompt and made life much simpler. Most of all, I appreciated her calm way of steering me toward good decisions. We worked together to be true to the style of the house. If I chose something that wasn’t quite appropriate, I appreciated her direction to a better choice. The confidence that I had in her made the whole project more fun and rewarding.

After purchasing a lake home in NH we engaged Chapin Interiors to help with the extensive renovation of a house that needed a lot of work. Not one room was left untouched during the seven month project. Sarah Chapin was referred to us by our general contractor who had already worked with her previously on a project. She was fantastic to work with. It was clear to me at the outset that she's had many years of successful experience in her profession and was capable of understanding and adhering to budget constraints. I have worked with a couple of other designers before who were fine but she is exemplary in all ways that create a flow of accomplishments to get the job done. Sarah is extremely professional, timely, creative, very tasteful, and a joy to work with. Our project required extensive coordination as I live in TX she lives in NY and the project was in NH. This home is to be our family's special place for the rest of our years so I wanted to be involved in he process, selections, ideas and so forth. Sarah honored this work style and we quickly established a very fluid long distance collaboration between the general contractor and the two of us. I made a few trips at the beginning, middle and toward the end while all the rest was accomplished expediently via emails and conference calls and mail. Included in visits were sample selection from vendors, on site meetings and final selections. I was extensively involved in our homes' furnishing choices with much gentle and educated guidance from Sarah. Her grace and style is evident yet my desire for our home to truly reflect our living style is prevalent. Our work together was an excellent complement. It was necessary for Sarah to be "architect" in many design aspects which she did so well in satisfying my needs and assisting the general contractor to understand the "look and feel" of what I wanted since I was rarely onsite. We've just currently completed the planning and ordering phase of the kitchen renovation since we took a break from renovation to use our home during the summer and fall. I've looked forward to getting back to work with her! She's handled all tasks and design to perfection and I could not be any happier with our beautiful lake/mountain home. Upon purchase there were a lot of issues to contend with and transformation was necessary. Our vision is just about completed with the kitchen project and throughout this process I truly appreciate the opportunity I've had to work with Sarah and Chapin Interiors. When building our home in NH our main criteria for a interior designer was a professional who knew the lake vibe but could direct us to all the best suppliers and antique dealers in NYC and Boston. It was equally important that they be able to meet our deadlines and work within our budget. Sarah Chapin was all that and more! During the construction phase she guided us with ease and excellent taste through tile selection, lighting fixtures, paint colors and flooring. Once we started on interior furnishings she was wonderful in presenting gorgeous fabric choices, unique wood pieces and comfy casual seating arrangements for our approval. We relied constantly on Sarah who was highly organized, detail oriented, and a pleasure to work with over our 3 year project. Thanks to Chapin Interiors we know have a wonderful gathering place for our family to enjoy for many years to come!

Upon purchasing a rather mundane house untouched since the eighties, I knew I needed help in making it attractive and livable. Fortunately, Sarah Chapin, whose work I'd admired, was available. Sarah gracefully led me through the process first engaging an architect to draw up her ideas involving some wall changes including paneling details. Then she assembled choices for new doors, molding, hardware, bathroom fixture, faucets, tile, stone, new kitchen, interesting lighting and a full house of furniture with unique fabrics, carpets, and even sheets and soaps. Sarah has excellent sources and good taste. She provided options enabling me to make our home "our space" while suggesting combinations that weren't "ho-hum" ordinary. Sarah is very creative and easy to work with. My husband and I enjoy our New Hampshire home so much, we had Sarah work on our primary residence in Florida and our daughter (mother of four) has her decorating a "kid friendly" Florida home.

My husband, Daniel , and I are delighted with the Pied à Terre Sarah of Chapin Interiors did for us. Sarah's 14 years experience working for Mariette Gomez and her 9 years owning her own interior design company gives her the ability to work with clients with many different needs and requests. Her creativity, excellent taste, even temperament, and organizational skills make her professionalism apparent. She was both directive when necessary and respectful of our tastes and listened to our opinions. What was also important for us coming from California was a designer who knew NYC City with its many shops, and professional vendors. She has access to the best.
