Paquin Design Build

My husband and I hired Brent Paquin to build a waterfront home for us in Easton, MD. After contacting several of his past clients who raved about him we decided to move forward. Even though we were using an existing house plan he already built, he still asked for a $10,000 design fee which we foolishly agreed to pay in three installments. We did make some minor modifications to the plans but nowhere close to $7000 in time for his work. Before we signed the agreement and decided to move forward we asked him what he charges to build and us he told us $250 a square foot. We based our budget on that and added an additional 15% to give us room for upgrades and changes we may want once construction began. We met to go over costs and saw that his total was $250000 over our budget which he confirmed at least twice with us. When we asked him what happened his response was “I’m sorry”. Needless to say we were shocked, disappointed, and very angry. We had to back out of our land purchase and in total lost almost $15,000 due to his dishonesty and misleading us all along. I wrote him and asked him to reimburse us for the design fee of $7000 we paid him which again entailed using his existing plans. He never responded, therefore, I felt obligated to write this review so others will be aware of what they may be getting themselves into. Buyer beware!

I highly recommend Paquin Design Build. Brent and his team were accommodating and open to the many changes we made throughout the process of building our home. When we asked for a specific type of railing installed, they went above and beyond to not only find someone to install the railing but also found the best price. Our project manager, Tim and his assistant, Gabe were professional, detail oriented, and ensured excellent craftsmanship and service. When issues arose, they were addressed and handled quickly. Our house was completed on time and exceeded our expectations thanks to the great team at Paquin Design Build.

We hired Paquin to design and build a second story on our house and were very pleased with the entire team in their process, knowledge, suggestions, responsiveness and professionalism. On top of this, the team was able to complete this tight timeline project early despite several set backs beyond their control, which was extremely appreciated given we were expecting our 5th child. We have other projects in mind for the future and will certainly be going back to Paquin! Excellent work and thank you so much!

I was entirely satisfied with the design, service & craftsmanship Paquin Design/Build provided for the residence we built. The project manager addressed issues promptly & was always aware of every aspect of the plans & progress. When we requested changes to the original plan, he explained in detail the reason for the associated cost & where appropriate, he suggested alternatives. Brent Paquin & the staff were easily available for questions & comments. We've received many compliments on the design & details.

Paquin Design/Build built our 3,600 sq ft custom home.The project took 10 months. Paquin was very helpful & patient with the design & our many design changes. I would rate a couple of the crafts (subcontractors) as 4-star and the majority as 5-star, for an overall rating of 5-star. The Project Manager was excellent, noticed each detail & responded quickly. The Lead Carpenter was an artist, & I called him our "Michelangelo"! The office staff was very helpful and responsive. If I have the need, I would hire Paquin Design/Build again.

We hired Brent because he was local and offered design and build services...meaning we could make and did make many changes to the design during the entire project. Our project involved tearing down an existing home and building a new/expanded one on the foundation. Unfortunately, in Dec 2015 we had lots of snow which slowed the project...but Brent and his men worked through it. Nevertheless the project was completed on time and very much to our satisfaction. Paquin's project managers and foremen are very good as are his carpenters. Paquin used a number of subcontractors which saved us money in the end. Brent was very flexible in terms of contract, payments, and design....he made many changes to the original design he gave us and we couldn't be happier with our home. If you are looking to support a local company that offers excellent services and products, give Brent a call.

I highly recommend Paquin Design Build. I contacted Brent Paquin over a year before our project began when I was in the early phases of budgeting to get an idea of cost per square footage for our custom home. Brent was very helpful and checked in periodically during that phase without a commitment from me. When the time came to get bids, I got 5 bids on our project and Paquin Design Build's bid was far superior in cost and specifications compared to the others and we selected them. Brent also gave me recommendations on financing with a local bank as well. Since we lived on the property that we were building on, we had first hand observations of the process, the subcontractors of the various trades were excellent. From groundbreaking to final inspection it was less then 6 months, which included days when the weather was not cooperative. We highly recommend Paquin Design Build, their quality, customer service and follow through was superior.

Brent and his team were a pleasure with whom to work. Our site supervisor(Mike) was wonderful! We worked together, as a team, from the design phase throughout the project. Their subcontractors were professional, courteous, and the cream of the crop. They responded quickly to any and all questions/concerns, and the answers/solutions were always found and applied. Great team!
