care instructions for plants
Planted Little Henry Virginia Sweetspire 5/25. May be pruned after blooming if required. In colder areas, sweetspire may experience a bit of weather damage coming out of winter, so prune any dead wood out after new growth has begun. If desired, fertilize in spring with a granular fertilizer formulated for trees and shrubs, like a rose fertilizer. This may be invasive, so please watch out for spreading.
Soft touch hollies were planted 5/18. Fertilize "Soft Touch" holly before new growth emerges in spring, using a slow-release, 4-3-4 fertilizer formulated for holly or other acid-loving plants. Sprinkle the fertilizer on the soil around the plant in an area extending 12 to 18 inches beyond the drip line, which is the point where water rain drips from the tips of the branches. Apply approximately 1 to 2 pounds of fertilizer per inch of trunk diameter. Don't allow fertilizer to touch the trunk. Always water the plant immediately after applying fertilizer
Bryson City Gingko Planted 5/8/16. Measure out 1 pound of an 8-8-8 (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) slow-release fertilizer for every 1 inch of trunk diameter. Place the fertilizer in a bucket or fertilizer spreader. 3 Spread the fertilizer as evenly as possible in a ring around the tree. Distribute the fertilizer on the ground underneath the ginkgo's canopy, staying 12 inches away from the trunk. 4 Mix the fertilizer granules into the top 1 to 3 inches of soil using a rake. Water the area thoroughly and deeply with a garden hose.
Use 10-10-10 in the spring for a few years, then 5-10-10 or 10-20-20
